I'm mailing The Da Vinci Code today because I want Fast & Furious for Tuesday. I ended up ordering Watchmen last night on Directv which was presented in 1080p.

I was wondering this also. I received a shipping notice last Saturday for The Da Vinci Code blu-ray and I received it Monday. I normally mail out a movie on Friday so I get the following Tuesday new releases. I was hoping on getting Watchmen for Tuesday but instead got fooled with Saturday processing. Looks like I'll be mailing my discs out on Saturday now.

I own a Sony PS3 20GB and a Panasonic BD30. I rent from Netflix and purchase from Amazon as I'am a Prime Member and receive 2 day free shipping. I also buy from Walmart & Best Buy when they have sales.

How long will it be until Paramount & Universal end this format war?

Dolby TrueHD will be awesome! I can't wait to receive my v2.0 disc from Toshiba! Edit: Went over to Wally World last night and picked up a 50ft ethernet cable and did the download to v2.0, took about 50min to complete. Popped in Training Day and selected Dolby TrueHD, WOW! Sounded incredible, every bit of sound detail came through like I was at the soundboard at Skywalker Ranch

I did the update Saturday. All went well. The update took 4-6mins. HD DVD's & SD DVD's do look better, I believe this is due to the A1 now being able to pass below black through its HDMI output. I had to recalibrate contrast & brightness on my display. Boot up time and disc load time are the same. I have never had a freeze or other glitch on any of my HD movies before the update. After updating the firmware you have to remember to reboot the player (unplug it than re-plug it in). This is great news to alot of HD-XA1/A1 owners who were having glitches viewing HD DVD's.

I also love my Digital Video Essentials dics and AVIA. I'm hoping ISF releases an HD-DVD calibration disc to go with my Toshiba HD-A1 HD-DVD player.

Unfortunately for me, my 55" widescreen Mits. doesn't have an HDMI interface, so I'll only be able to watch downscaled content. Not true. The HD-A1 & HD-AX1 both output full HD 1080i through their component video outputs. All HD DVD titles released so far do not have the Image Restraint Token engaged. This is confirmed and I had my HD-A1 hooked up with component video before going to HDMI. The only thing you can't do is upscale SD DVD's through component video. It's either 480i or 480p.

Just noticed this joke Skaggs. I wish that were true, even though I picked up a Toshiba HD-A1 HD DVD player. HD DVD is awesome and I can't wait to see Blu-Ray Disc.

I have a Toshiba HD-A1 and love it. As of now, yes, HD DVD does have the better picture and IMO the better titles as of now, but I do believe by the end of this year Blu-ray will be right up there. I also agree with your comments about who will win. I've said it before also that Beta was better but VHS was the chosen and this could happen with HD DVD & Blu-ray Disc. It will be interesting in the future, thats for sure..

I just heard that CBS & NBC are gong to simulcast this. What are the chances this will be in HD for us?

I too had to switch over to WRGB SD TWC. I do not have OTA. According to some at the AVS Forum who anwered your post, it was indeed local. Didn't it happen twice? I can't remember.

I wish I caught that. I hate watching those Friday games on FOX23 along with Saturday games on FOX which are just 480p widescreen.

Last night HBO-HD showed Star Wars Episode III in original apsect ratio!!! It looked incredible! We can only hope for an HD transfer on DVD, be it Blu-Ray or HD DVD. Hopefully this will be a new trend, showing more HD movies in OAR for HBO. I recorded the second showing this morning.
