Toshiba HD-XA1 HD DVD player firmware upgrade leaked

Early adopting Toshiba HD-XA1 HD DVD player owners may be in for a special treat this weekend, as a poster on AVSForums www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=681416&page=3 has obtained a copy of a firmware upgrade early and posted it for download at www.savefile.com/files/7678296.
Rumors on the board indicate Toshiba may release the update for owners to via disc or download next week, but if you just can't wait, all you need is a CD-R and a copy of Nero and you should be in business.
So what does the update do other than flipping your firmware number over to 1.2? Early reports from posters indicate reduced load times, no freezing when searching/skipping around movies and fixes for HDMI connection problems.
Although the update is labeled for the HD-XA1 premium player, users have not reported any problems with the HD-A1 after upgrading. As usual, applying as yet unofficial updates could void your warranty, brick your player or kick your cat, so proceed with caution.
Fortunately, as an early adopter, we know you're used to throwing caution to the wind, so update your player and let us know how it goes. Increased performance and stability may just be what Toshiba needs to lure the cautious off the fence and into buying.

My source tells me that discs should be available to all by next week (6/5 is the target), but I'll post the file here for those who just can't wait. Anyone know a way to extract the image file so I can post it? My computer says the disc is an invalid format. My HD-XA1 reads it fine.
AVSForum post:
Great news! I was able to extract & save the image file. I then burned a new CD-R using the saved file (.nrg) and tested it in my HD-XA1. Worked like a charm.
The file is 48mb, so I can't post it here on the forum. I've uploaded it here:

To make the CD-R, I used Nero Burning ROM 6-SE software. I set the "recorder" drop down menu to "burn image" then pointed to the saved file. I then set the Burn speed to 4X (because I think its more reliable), then started burning.
After successful burn, load the disc into your HD-DVD player. Screen will show "Proceed with update? Yes/No". Select yes, then enter. Front panel display will show progess, and when finished will display " update successful" and show the new version #. Disc will then eject and unit will shut down. You are done!
Please don't attempt this if you don't know what your doing! Wait for Toshiba to release the "official" disc next week.
OK, now all you early adopters can get a head start & see if Toshiba has responded to your gripes. Best of luck! Enjoy!
