Breaking News: Blu-Ray now available for purchase - only $299In a move that has stunned Toshiba and excited HD lovers everywhere, Sony has just released their coveted Blu-Ray player. Best of all, they have undercut Toshiba's price by releasing their player at whopping $299! This is simply astounding! We all knew that Sony had the support of most of the movie studios, but no one excepted those studies to release so many titles. As I am writing this, studios keep sending lists and lists of their release titles over the news feeds. We will get you a complete list as soon as we can. This day simply could not get any better then I ran across what many of you called out for: Penthouse's Blu-Ray edition collection! It appears that they took all the "classic" stuff, combined with new material, and utilized all of Blu-Ray's capacity. What could make today any better? Blu-Ray is here, it's cheap, and there are tons of titles (and porn). What a way to start the day! April FoolsOriginally posted at HD Beat

Just noticed this joke Skaggs. I wish that were true, even though I picked up a Toshiba HD-A1 HD DVD player. HD DVD is awesome and I can't wait to see Blu-Ray Disc.

Unfortunately for me, my 55" widescreen Mits. doesn't have an HDMI interface, so I'll only be able to watch downscaled content. And I really don't feel like spending $3,000 on a replacement just because Hollywood is too d**n paranoid.

The HD-A1 & HD-AX1 both output full HD 1080i through their component video outputs. All HD DVD titles released so far do not have the Image Restraint Token engaged. This is confirmed and I had my HD-A1 hooked up with component video before going to HDMI. The only thing you can't do is upscale SD DVD's through component video. It's either 480i or 480p.
