Another question for anyone who has received an activated the TA.
Does it allow the use of On Demand?

The TA does not give you access to On Demand. Those channels are still blank. I guess the letter from TW says that it will "allow you to receive programming delivered using SDV technology (but not our other interactive features)". Too bad; the guy I talked to at TW yesterday thought that it would make everything they offer available. Apparently not.

Also got my letter yesterday. Decided to call to see if they in fact had the TA available in Clifton Park before I drove down from Saratoga. Was informed that they had one available for each person who signed up and to bring the letter and another form of ID. Drove down and picked up the adapter (which included all necessary cables). The individual at the counter had a pre-printed list of names as to who was authorized to pick one up. (looked to be about 4 pages long). Came home, installed it onto the TiVo and plugged it in. The green LED flashed for about 5-6 minutes then turned solid. I checked both cards and all channels are now available. Other than having to drive to Clifton Park the whole process was painless.

Another question for anyone who has received an activated the TA. Does it allow the use of On Demand? While that kind of functionality would have been cool to have, the tuning adapter can only only signal back up to the cable company your request for a specific channel. I would guess that how pay per view channels are handled is specific to each cable company vendor. If they tried to add that, which would be basically duplicating a good chunk of what will be in Tru2way, we would still be waiting for our tuning adapters.

Geez, am I the only one who cannot get one?
I received my letter on Saturday, and went all the way down to Clifton Park on Sunday to pick up my tuning adapter. I waited on line for 40 minutes. When I heard the fat, stupid git behind the counter tell the guy in front me something to the tune of "Sorry we don't have anymore of those..." I knew what they had to be talking about.
Apparently, they miscounted the number of people on the mailing list, because they ran out of them less than halfway through the day. They're supposed to get more... but of course, today is a Time Warner office holiday. I can call on Tuesday to have one shipped, or I can try my luck and drive down there after work later in the week. (but then you might be reading about the incident in the police blotter section of the newspaper) If I could just pick one up at the Saratoga office, I wouldn't be so annoyed at being turned away... but after making a special 1 hour round trip in the snow just for this....
The worst part is that my wife came along, and she was forced to find something to do in the Clifton Park Center for 40 minutes. I feel bad about that.
I demand that this forum rescind its obscenity restrictions so I can appropriately express myself.

For those of you with TivoHD/S3 units and the TA, are the digital simulcast analog channels now showing up as digital? (ie, 550, 540, 110-I think that's ABC Family?)
I'm curious because if that's the case, it'll mean the cci-byte will rear its ugly head and no more MRV/TTG (except for the HD Locals).

....Apparently, they miscounted the number of people on the mailing list, because they ran out of them less than halfway through the day.... My guess is that TWC assumed that each person would want just one. I'm guessing that people with multiple TiVo HD's and/or Series 3 were able to get TA's for each TiVo. That would have sucked for the last people to show up for one. I could be wrong on that one though, they should have been able to cross-reference the TA request list with the subscriber records and allocate a TA for each CableCard that you were renting.

The aforementioned fat, stupid git at the Clifton Park TW office called to say that they received more Tuning adapters, and they'll set one aside for me and not give it to anyone else, if I show up to get it today. If this works out, he might transform from fat & stupid into 'the coolest git in the room'.
I'd still rather use different sorts of words in my description.

Thank you for not using four letter words. Although we have all thought about using them when describing the "service" we receive from TW.

Thank you for not using four letter words. Although we have all thought about using them when describing the "service" we receive from TW. Yea, well. I'm thinking them a lot, lately. I'm getting that 'blinking green light' thing. I've reset the Tivo and the tuning adapter umpteen times. I let it blink overnight and all day. I reset it some more. I called TW Tech Support. "Hi, I'm having trouble with my tuning adapter" (silence) "Ok" (silence) "Can you help me out with it?" (silence) "Um, ok" (silence) That was the theme of the whole call. I was his first tuning adapter call. He claimed to be able to "see" the tuning adapter and it was communicating, and it was authorized. He "hit it" a few times, and said it should work. It didn't work. He scheduled a truck roll. For the 27th ("oh, is that next Tuesday?" [silence] "Uh" [silence] "um" [silence] "let me see, uh, yea") The kid at the Clifton Park office (I was unfair. He isn't fat. He's just a little chunky.) claimed it was all set and should fire right up. He said he had sent out piles of them by this time, so he had the process down. I replaced all the cables, incl. the USB cable. The Tivo seems to see it. It warns me when I turn it off, and informs me when I turn it on. The Tivo passes along several pages of diagnostic screens with all sorts of info from the tuning adapter that I don't know how to interpret. The stupid little green light just keeps blinking and switched channels are black. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have plenty of time to try all sorts of ideas before the tech comes next week. It suppose it could just be broke. I prefer to think its sleeping. Anyone know what to look for in the diag screens for a clue? Anybody?

Never mind, its working, now. I already got tired of waiting till next Tuesday. I called TWC Support again. The most beautiful woman in the world answered the phone (I'm assuming) and told me that she doesn't know much about tuning adapters, BUT she knows the guy who does. She sent me to him. He did something (several more hits of a different nature). He said to unplug & replug the TA, and wait an hour. While I waited, I pretended not to care if it was working, and after an hour, pushed the little power button and it turned on with a solid light and switched channels appeared.
I think the key is not caring. They can sense your frustration. Frustration somehow becomes fear, which leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. Then BAM! suffering leads to the dark side and you're standing behind a counter in Clifton Park, handing out something that you pretend will work out of the box.

I got one delivered via UPS yesterday. Since I asked that it be delivered on the 17th and was told it would be about a week, that is ahead of schedule.
Of course, it only came with the USB cable.
It may be a while before I can get it installed, since I need to see whether I can find a coax cable, will need to re-arrange some of my other equipment to make room for it, and will be out of town from this evening till Sunday night.
At least it is finally here.

Of course, it only came with the USB cable. The TA's I received came in a cardboard box. Inside the box was the TA, power cord, and a USB cable. Since I picked up mine at TWC, I ask for and received the short piece of coax for free.

I got it connected and almost everything seems to work.
Of all the channels in the 1800's which I am supposed to receive, the only ones giving problems are 1815 and 1839.
Since I can't receive either of them with my SA8300HD at this time either and I can receive them over DirecTV, TW is probably just having problems with them.
I was also having problems with 1847, origanlly having problems with 1847 as well when I first tested each cablecard, but it seems to coming in fine now.
Now to find a longer HDMI cable so I can re-connect my Blueray player.

Now to find a longer HDMI cable so I can re-connect my Blueray player. I find monoprice.com to have quality HDMI cables at a very reasonable price. I purchased 3 six foot long HDMI cables and had them all delivered for under $20. I see you purchased your HDMI switcher from monoprice, so you must be familiar with their service.
