A limited number of tuning adapters were available at the TW High Bridge office in Schenectady today. Apparently, after a couple of hours they were removed from distribution because it was discovered that the units needed a firmware upgrade. They will be available again early next week.

Anyone pickup a unit?
I know some folks picked up units because I was there when a woman returned her unit to exchange for one with the latest firmware.

I went over to the High Bridge Rd office at 11AM. I asked for a tuning adapter and she immediately asked if I had received notification that they were available. I said yes.(dkennedy notified me in the above post ) She then said the notifications went out early before they figured out the boxes needed a firmware update. She asked for my contact information so they could let me know when they were available again. I asked when they expect a new shipment...she told me they were hoping for next week, although she wasn't promising anything. She also asked that I only come in to the counter if I receive notification from TWC that they are available.

Did anyone receive info from TW that they were available? I filled out the form on the website extremely early (I'm the one that found it and posted it to this site) and didn't hear a peep, nor did anyone I told to sign up that day. Yet they were somehow giving them away to people? WTF?!?
Man I can't stand Time Warner...if only we had FIOS here.

It seems that the tivo SDV tuning adapter rollout is being run by Mickey Mouse...pardon me Disney...hmmm....on second thought....even Mickey gets it right now and then...

Nah, i't Time Warner. That means the rollout is coming from the Acme Corporation, the leading vendor of rocket propelled roller skates.

Don't forget to that the TA may also need a coaxial connection to the cable line as well (not everyone has a splitter or possibly the signal strength to split the the line yet again). Or so I've heard/read on the Tivo forums.

Or so I've heard/read on the Tivo forums. The setup is: cable coax line connected to Tuning adapter "IN" then another piece of coax from Tuning Adapter "OUT" to Tivo In addition, there is an USB cable between the Tuning Adapter & TiVo. It is unknown at this time if TWC will supply either the USB cable or the small coax between the TA and TiVo.

Knowing them, we'll have to sign up for a "Tuning Adapter Connector Kit" on the website, which will be delayed for about 2 years, and, when finally released, will be handed out to anyone who asks prior to those that signed up. But that kit will contain the wrong USB cable so you'll just have to bring it back anyway. Yes, I'm still angry.

when I talked to them last week they said letters were going out midweek this week. I live about 2 or 3 miles from the High Bridge Road office. I stopped at home for lunch and grabbed the mail... No letter from TWC.

just called again because I'm impatient and neurotic and the rep I got today didn't even know the info the rep from last week told me about them sending letters out this week.. I stayed on the phone with her for about 5 minutes while she looked through her email and she couldn't find any info for me. She just said we'll be able to pick them up from the office once we get letters and gave me "soon" as a time frame... and we wait some more

Most kits will be missing the either the USB or the COAX, but not both. Approximately 10% of the kits will contain neither, but will have a 4 pin FireWare cable. Oh, and the USB cables? They will be 4 inches long. That wont matter because it will be the wrong gender and you wont be able to plug them in anyways. Other than that, i"m not anticipating any additional problems.
