Just got this from TWC Albany:

Thank you for email. We apologize for the inconvenience. Currently, we have no expected date that has been given for when the adapters will be available. Time Warner Cable is working to release the adapters as soon as possible. I can assure you that the technology is available and will be made available to customers. We will alert every customer who placed an online order as soon as the device is available to them. This notification will come via mail and/or email. Thank you for your patience in this matter.

OK then my next question would be whether I am entitled to a discount on my bill since I am not able to receive all of my channels due to Time Warner Cable Albany not providing the tuning adapters in a prompt way. I also received an unrelated pamphlet in the mail a couple days ago from TWC talking about how the cost of services will be going up as well. So I\'m not only going to be paying more for my cable tv service (plus the cable card that I\'m paying for that doesn\'t do me a whole lot of good without the tuning adapter), but I will not be receiving all of my channels that I am paying for. I would just like to mention again that TWC is REQUIRED by the FCC to provide these adapters, and has been fined by the FCC for not doing so, please see the following link: arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20081017-fcc-fines-cable-for-anticompetitive-switched-digital-video.html I\'m starting to get very annoyed by the whole thing (as are other TWC Albany TiVo Users) as I do not see the light at the end of the tunnel, and from what I\'ve seen thus far, time tables don\'t seem to mean much. Do you guys need a beta tester? A guinea pig? I\'d be more than happy to help out. Please let me know what can be done about my bill until this tuning adapter thing gets resolved. Thank you.

Thank you for your recent request for the SDV Tuning Adapter. Your Pre-Order has been received. At this time the Tuning Adapter is not available to the public but is currently undergoing testing to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction upon release; which we will begin deployments later this year. We do not have a specific release date for your area, but once the Tuning Adapter becomes available a service representative will contact you to schedule the installation.

On October 13, 2008, I received an email from Time Warner Cable stating the tuning adapter will be deployed "LATER THIS YEAR".

There are only two days left in 2008.

When I received the email on Oct 13, it was signed, Dorain Jacobs.

Since that time, emails sent from TWC Cable Card support have been signed, D. Jacobs.

Inserting that name into the standard TWC email format reveals the following email address:

The TW main office in Rotterdam (High Bridge Road) has them in stock but has only released the units to employees.

I knew back on Nov 17th that Albany TWC had the Tuning Adapters in stock.

What is surprising is that TWC employees have TiVos?

Apparently some do and they are the ones field testing the units.

With the tiny amount of Cable Card users out there, they might as well let us field test the tuning adapters.

I have requested to be a beta-tester, with no results.

On 2/15/08, one of Albany TWC's Tech Supervisors told me there were 300 cable cards deployed by Albany TWC. My guess is about 200 of which are TiVos.

I had a question about my TWC bill and when I spoke to a billing CSR, she mentioned that she had asked about the Tuning Adapters today and she was told unofficially that it would be late January/early February before they were released.

Ah, now it makes perfect sense. Apparently "end of the year" was with regard to the Chinese calendar.
