Tell me about it.
Anyone else having issues on their Tivo recordings of the SDV HD channels? So far, every single recording on JUST the SDV HD channels has had SOME pixelation and artifacting/stuttering. Maybe 4-6 times in the first 10 minutes or so.
I've NEVER had this on any other channel (or other HD channels). So far it's ONLY on the SDV HD channels.

I have the same problem.
I did a test and installed my TW box next to my TIVO and tuned in the same channel. Pixelation on the Tivo but not the TW box. I did notice one strange thing...the video and sound out of the TW box was about 3 to 4 seconds behind the video and sound on the TIVO, which leads me to believe there is some sort of image processing going on the TW box which corrects pixelation or is it buffering???

I have been having an issue with one of my two tuning adapters. The one in my bedroom loses its connection on a regular basis. I can get the light to stop blinking and connect to the TiVo, showing all the channels I am supossed to receive. However, the next time I go to watch TV in the bedroom, the tuning adapter light is flashing again. I'll give a call to TWC later this afternoon. I hate thinking about how my conversation is going to go: ME: I'm having problems with my tuning adapter. TWC CSR: What? ME: My tuning adapter...it can't keep a connection to my TiVo TWC CSR: We don't offer TiVo's, but we do have our own DVRs ME: AAARRRGH! I should give them the benefit of the doubt, but I know better. Here's how my actual call went: ME: Hi. I'm having an issue with one of my two tuning adapters. It works fine for an hour or so and then the green light starts flashing. After a few hours the light goes solid. When I turn the TV back on, I get the "Tuning Adapter Detected" screen. This scenario has happened repeatedly for the last 10 days or so. KASSANDRA FROM TWC: Ummmm...OK. Can I put you on hold for a moment? ME: OK KASSANDRA FROM TWC: Have you tried unplugging the box for a few minutes and then plugging it back in? ME: Yes, I've done that several times. The adapter works fine for an hour and then the green light starts flashing again. KASSANDRA FROM TWC: OK. Can I put you on hold again? ME: OK KASSANDRA FROM TWC: Sir, I'll need to send a technician out to your house to troubleshoot your adapter. ME: Do you really have to do that? Can't you just send some signals to the adapter and reprogram it? KASSANDRA FROM TWC: No, I need to send a technician. How about tomorrow at 10AM? ME: No, I work during the day. KASSANDRA FROM TWC: I only have daytime appointments left. ME: Ugh. KASSANDRA FROM TWC: How about you bring the adapter in and we will give you a new one? ME: OK KASSANDRA FROM TWC: I'll note your account so they will see it when you come in.

Lets hope Tivo fixes their software to work with our new TA's. Since the tuning is 100% in the tivo, this tiling is their problem now.

Two times within the last week when I tried to play a program from the Now Playing List, I received an error message something like "This program could not be recorded because there is no signal on this channel".
The first time I just deleted the programs that had the problem and figured I would investigate it later.
This time I knew that there had to have been a signal, since the recorded programs were OTA, so I re-booted my S3.
After the boot was complete all of the programs that had shown the error were completely viewable.

I've had random lockups, unable to tune channels, etc. since installing the TA. It's definitely not rock-solid. At least 2-3 times a week I have to unplug the TA from the TiVo, power it down, power it up, and plug it back into the TiVo. That usually fixes it.
I've also had a couple scheduling recordings on SDV channels fail due to the channels vanishing.
And lots of pixelation.
Ugh.

So I'm wondering do we need to call Tivo about this or TW. Either choice stinks, IMO (the hold times for Tivo or the lack of anything useful from TW except they'll schedule a truck roll and they'll say it's your signal/cables).

The continuation of my TA story: I went to the Highbridge Road office yesterday afternoon with my defective TA in my hand, just like TWC CSR "Kassandra" told me to. I spoke to the woman at the desk (a nameplate with "ANNE" on it is in front) and mention how I had been having problems with the TA, called TWC last night, spoke to Kassanda, who told me to bring it in for an exchange today. The woman at the desk says they were told not to swap out the TA's. I explained how Kassandra from TWC told me last night that I could. I asked if there was a note in my account stating this and she confirmed there was. However, she told me the CSRs at the desk have been told by their supervisor not to accept returns on the TAs. She told me that they are supposed to tell customers to call the 800 number included in the letter they received notifying them to come and pick up the TA. She attempted to get a hold of a supervisor name "Mike" while I waited patiently. The line behind me started to grow while I stood there staring at the CSR, both of us doing nothing. I heard some rumblings from the line like, "What's taking so long?" and "Is this guy going to leave or what?" After about 10 minutes waiting for a call back from "Mike", it was determined he was not working today. The CSR called another supervisor, who authorized her to accept my old TA and give me a new one. She apologized for the delay, but stated she was only doing what she was told and was not going to violate her instructions unless told by a supervisor. I left with my new boxed TA. I hooked it up last night, and it has been working as it should, with no reoccurances of the flashing green light so far. I just re-read my letter, and no where in the letter does it say to call the 800 number when you have problems. What it does say is:

That's TW service for you. Clueless to the end.
Hopefully it resolves your problems. I wonder if I need to get ahold of TW and get mine replaced as well?
The pixelation and stuttering is happening on "live" TV (again, ONLY on SDV channels for me) now as well. Regardless of whether it's HD or not. But ONLY on the SDV channels. All other channels are fine.

sometimes I wonder about the reps at the front counter at highbridge road...
I replaced my TA without any problems...twice in one week...heck...I didn't even have to wait...I just said it wasn't working...need a replacement...that was all there was to it...
Of course...the replacement did not cure my ills...pixelation on the SDV channels continues...this is my second TA swap...so I think this is a Tivo issue...not the TA....unless of course...the TA needs a firmware upgrade....which we don't know about...

I'm getting pixelization on shows recorded on the SciFi channel, that shouldn't be SDV. I've had the TiVo reboot twice in the last week while I was trying to use it. I'm fairly sure that it's rebooted at least once more on it's own (the 30 seconds skip "feature" had to be renabled).
I've haven't had any issues with the TA itself, so I my guess that the problem is on the TiVo end. At first I thought it was my Tivo, but too many people here are reporting issues.

Well, it's not the Tuning Adapter. Or at the very least, the problem with my TiVo HD outweighs any possible problem with the Tuning Adapter. I called TiVo support and the first thing we did was run through the CableCard diagnostics. We learned that I have an older version of the card, but it should still work and teh card was not reporting any problems.
We then ran the kickstart 54 TiVo diagnostics and the S.M.A.R.T. test for the /dev/hdb drive reported "TEST FAILED". The CSR suggested that I run the their check disk on the drive. The TiVo check disk has a "fun" feature where if it detects a sector that it can't repair, it marks the entire drive as defective. This effectively turns the TiVo into a Cablecard-equipped door stop.
Since my TiVo is still marginally useful, I opted for the advanced exchange and the replacement will ship on Monday. The TiVo is still under warranty, but I have to pay the shipping charges for the return.
If anyone else is seeing pixelization, I would suggest that you run the TiVo diagnostics on the drives before calling Time Warner.

Chris,
I'm getting pixelation on the Sci-Fi for BSG last night as well. Perhaps it is the TA or TW?
Anyway, how do you run the kickstart 54 Tivo diags?
Was your unit still under warranty? I think it's only got a 1-year warranty. Mine's older than a year. IF it's the HD, I'd probably be better off slapping a new one in myself (in terms of price).

Well, ran the diagnostics, and they all passed. Looks like a call to Tivo is in order. Sigh.
