The fact that the baseball package will be on SDV just seals the deal for me. I'm so glad I'm just reading about all this, and not actually DEALING with it anymore. Frustrating, for sure.

I guess when SciFi goes HD...and into the world of SDV...it will spell then end of using CC at my home...since it is the most popular channel second only to Fox's Soccer Channel...and if that one goes....heck all hell will break loose...

I spoke to a useless customer service rep yesterday regarding CC issues. He said the following channels have been SDV "for a few weeks":
125 (DISCK) 210 (MIL) 225 (SCI) 330 (FitTV) 410 (Fox Reality, though my CC gets the Gospel music ch) 450 (BBC America) 554 (WTEN2) 677 (NBA TV, though my CC gets the Musica Urbana music ch) 1866 (SNY HD)
None of these channels are SDV, according to my STB.
He also said "most" of the music channels are SDV, which is why I'm not receiving them. I checked a handful of channels; none were SDV.
He said an email was sent out notifying customers of this change. I never received this email. I asked for a copy of this email; it still hasn't been sent.
He said TW doesn't have multistream cards. I said I have an M-Card. He said that's not a multistream card, but the tech supervisor who installed it and the Motorola website both say M-Cards are multistream cards.
Anyway, I have CC service call #13 scheduled for Monday 2/25. I requested a supervisor, but the idiot CSR kept insisting all their techs are trained for CCs. I told him that was bull, and that was the last lie I let him tell me.

The TWC CSR you spoke to didn't tell you one thing that was true. I spoke to a useless customer service rep yesterday regarding CC issues. He said the following channels have been SDV "for a few weeks": 125 (DISCK) 210 (MIL) 225 (SCI) 330 (FitTV) 410 (Fox Reality, though my CC gets the Gospel music ch) 450 (BBC America) 554 (WTEN2) 677 (NBA TV, though my CC gets the Musica Urbana music ch) 1866 (SNY HD) Only 677 NBA TV is SDV. He also said "most" of the music channels are SDV, which is why I'm not receiving them. The Music Choice channels are not SDV. He said an email was sent out notifying customers of this change. TWC has never sent an email to CC customers notifying us of any channels being SDV. If they had sent this email, I would have posted it here. However, they did send a letter via US mail dated August 21, 2006. I wasn't a Cc customer then, but I posted a copy of the letter here. He said TW doesn't have multistream cards. I said I have an M-Card. He said that's not a multistream card, but the tech supervisor who installed it and the Motorola website both say M-Cards are multistream cards. The CSRs don't know squat about CC's. However, after much suffering and frustration, I have found a few supervisors of the techs who know the truth. One is Tom Landry, who knew enough to contact me when the CSR filled out the work order for 4 single stream CC's when I requested 2 M-cards. You can read my CC installation notes here. Anyway, I have CC service call #13 scheduled for Monday 2/25. I requested a supervisor, but the idiot CSR kept insisting all their techs are trained for CCs. I told him that was bull, and that was the last lie I let him tell me. Hurnik posted Chris Kaling's desk phone number in this post. Chris works for Bob Walsh, who is another person who knows his business at TWC. I have Chris' cell phone number, too. Give Chris a call and explain you issues. He can inform the tech or he might actually come to the service call, too. Chris works the afternoon shift, something like noon-9PM. Chris will be at my house this afternoon to run a new "script" for my Mcards.

After another call to TW last night (I was missing some SDV HD channels via the STB), the CSR actually followed through on emailing the up-to-date SDV channels. There are no changes from the 2/5/08 list Skaggs posted above. This CSR (Ken) seemed genuinely stunned when I recounted the lies I was told during my last call, and refunded me a month's cable service. Maybe he's a CC owner?

At 6PM today, I checked the diagnostic menu on my cable box and it said 97 SDV channels, the same as it had been for a few weeks.
At 9:30PM, I noticed a few more Starz HD channels, so I checked the diagnostic menu and it listed 102 SDV channels.
The new HD channels:
1892 Starz Comedy HD 1893 Starz Kids and Family HD 1894 Starz Edge HD
All are SDV, so you are S.O.L. with a cable card.

I am a bit confused, someone please help follow this. If most of the people on this chat page have a cable tuner from tW and a cablecard why not just watch the new hd chs on the cable tuner? I use the 8300 and it works on the sdv stuff mentioned.
My tv had cablecard as well. I rarely use it and it only costs me a couple bucks so I don't feel too left out. My thought is its a old tech now. I read the fcc forced tv companies to incorporate cablecard into the sets maybe abit too early in the HD world. I read the tru2way devices that are being dev now are all going to be compatible with sdv and would be able to get these new chs. Looking around at the local stores I don't see new tvs having the cablecard since the manufacturers seemed to have abandoned the tech.
Now will going to dish or Verison allow me to use my cablecard to pick up channels? It seems that I would need a receiver from them to get the chs just like I do from cable.
I would rather get these new hd chs than not personally. If it means death to this cablecard then so be it.
With my tail between my legs, back in my dog house for a cold night...

I forgot to say that I look forward to the tru2way tuners so I will be able to choose to buy my own DVR. Might save me some $$ instead of leasing one each month. When will tru2way stuff be avail to us to go buy?

Yup, they essentially killed cable card so now you're back to spending $8/mo for each TV again. For my money, the dish is only $5/mo per TV and you get 4x the HD content--and not just premiums.

If most of the people on this chat page have a cable tuner from tW and a cablecard why not just watch the new hd chs on the cable tuner? I have two TiVo HD's, which use cable cards to tune digital cable. The TiVo has an exceptional user interface and allows me to transfer shows between DVRs, show my home photos on my HDTV's, and save TV shows to my computer hard drive (or DVDs). There's much more it can do, too. The TW issued DVR will not do these things and my experiences showed it was not a reliable recorder. TiVo has announced a "tuning resolver" is being developed to allow TiVo's to received SDV channels. The tuning resolver will reportedly be available in 2Q 2008 (April-June). I kept a cable box around so I could report on the status of SDV deployment for this message board.

Add these two channels to the SDV lineup:
1909 Team HD 1929 Game HD
I'm unsure of what these will be used for, possibly HD versions of the games included in the sports packages?
