Try unplugging the tuning adapter and waiting about a minute. You must unplug it, turning it off via the power button will not be sufficient. While it's powered off, you should see some message from the TiVo that it can't see the TA anymore, that's normal and expected.
Next, plug the TA back in. It may take a minute of so for the TA to resolve it's status. It should end up with the green idiot light on and not blinking. If it's still blinking, give it a few minutes more. If, after a few minutes it is still blinking, start over.
It takes a few minutes for the TiVo to recognize the TA. I don't know if that is a problem on the TiVo side or the TA side, but you may be able to speed up the process by unplugging the USB cable, waiting 30 seconds, then plugging it back in. You can also restart the TiVo to firece it to go looking for hardware when it boots back up.
You should then call TWC and ask them to check the return signal strength from the TA. If the TA is working, they can easily query the TA for that information. They may need to schedule a technician to come out and clean up some cables or splitters to provide a better signal from the TA.

Can't pick up any of the SDV channels this morning (6AM-7AM). They're all "currently not available". Chris: pmp may be unable to get the SDV channels with a TWC issued box. He didn't say it was with a TiVo & TA. I have had it happen to me where I got the CHANNEL UNAVAILABLE message while using my TWC box.

You're right, Skaggs. But thanks for the effort Chris! I should've noted that I wasn't getting the SDV channels with either my SA4250 HDC or my SA8300 HD DVR. Problem eventually resolved itself around 9:30AM after I called TW and told them to send someone out today. (BTW, the CSR scheduled it as an "emergency" call to be completed today, instead of setting up a normal appointment with a 4-hr window weeks into the future. That might be a useful term to drop next time you're looking for service.)

Received the letter below from Albany TWC today. It seems as though they are going with SDV on 49 additional channels, starting Friday, July 10th. If you have a rent a cable card and use it in a non-TiVo device, they offer to provide a HD converter box for the same cost of a cable card, when you turn in your cable card. Of particular interest to me is the footnote at the bottom of the second page, which refers to the exitsing HD TiVo owners who have a Tuning Adapter at no additional charge:

Hi,
I am a fan of MSNBC and have been trying to learn when, if at all, MSNBC will be available as a high definition channel on TimeWarner Albany's lineup (I'm in the TW Saratoga Springs area).
Any news?
Kind Regards,

Saratogacoach: with the movement of 40 additional channels to SDV, one can deduce that Albany TWC now has bandwidth to add more HD channels. Since Syracuse TWC added MSNBC a few weeks ago, we should get it soon. Albany TWC typically adds new channels on Tuesday mornings. Check your set top box on Tuesdays and always check here for the latest channel additions.

I was wondering what's going on with the sdv channels lately where is say's CHANNEL UNAVAILABLE message, they need to fix the sdv, get all the bugs out the system, and add more hdtv channels?

Same thing has been happening to me since the weekend. Did you call TWC? I did, they said I have a low signal and are sending a technician tomorrow.
I think with the increased bandwidth, the system is less forgiving of infrastructure issues. You should call them.

I had to reboot my TA twice today. Ironically they always tell me I have a "high" signal. Although I'll admit I've not yet done the splitter thing. I think I'll do that tonight

I think maximumm was getting the messages using a TWC set top box, not a TiVo, correct?
