In the 2nd quarter of Monday Night's Chiefs vs. Ravens game on ABC, the HD picture on both TWC and OTA went to SD. I went to bed before it went back to HD, if it did at all. It did come back. It was acting funky during that quarter, but it was back to normal after a while. What it does demonstrate is how much different 480i upconverted looks over 720p. Stark contrast.

Disappointing but understandable, horse racing just does not generate the viewership that other major sporting events do. Oh well I will be there live, and in person for the Great Summer Derby, as I have had a table for the past four years near the finish line. Hopefully, soon, tv viewers will recognize horse racing for the great sport and entertainment that it is. I wish it WAS broadcast in HD so I could've stayed home and not get hit witht he deluge that came down. It got downright dark pretty quick.

This is good news, I can still keep INHD & INHD2, and tier subscribers get ESPN-HD at no additional cost. Will existing tier subscribers get a 1 month rebate? Or would it be better for them to cancel and sign back up in a month? And $3.95 is a heck of a lot better than $6.95 and adding the INHD channels. It makes getting ESPN HD a no-brainer in my book.

You should have ESPN HD free until 10/16, free preview, channel 1869 I know, but what I'm saying it that is it an ADDITIONAL $3.95/month, or because I'm already paying $3.95/month for HDNet and HDNet Movies, will I have it without calling TW?

So if I already have HDNet and HDNet Movies, will it include ESPNHD now? -BL

Hi everyone,
Last night while watching TV and getting creeped out about the Caller ID stuff showing up on screen without knowing about it beforehand, I noticed a local TWC Albany ad for NBA TV HD. They said the channel's on 1865. I typed in 1865 and nothing yet. Was this a case of TWC letting the cat out of the bag too soon or what?

Yes, I knew you were the one who mentioned that. One of the bandmembers in the Letterman Newsgroup gave the date of April, so it might be sooner. Who knows.

Nice, and I found out that Letterman will soon broadcast in HD (I'm hearing reports inside that say April, but industry reporters are predicting September). That's cool. The holdup right now is converting the Ed Sullivan Theater's Control Room to HD, which is a pain in the butt because of the ancient wiring in there and the confined space. Initially, they'll have a trailer with HD equipment on 53rd Street while they do the conversion.

By the Way, Lenny Kravitz appears in an HD Target ad you may catch if you don't fast-forward through them. Target runs a few HD sports, don't they? Are they the only retailer that does this, aside from Circuit City running ads on Discovery HD Theater? This will be my first Super Bowl in HD... Do they run the majority of the Ads in HD, or just Standard Definition?

By the way, while watching CBSHD, I noticed they had a 2 minute HDTV commercial for all of their programming. Is that normal for CBS to run that spot on their HD feed?

This is great news... I'd held out purchasing an HD tuner for the last six months in the hopes this would happen sooner rather than later. Looks like we're all in luck. Agreed. I love saving money. But I'm greedy, I want all of the channels on TWC, and soon. Anyone know how many HDTV channels TWC can add before they have to either power down some of them for bandwidth reasons or have to remove some SDTV channels to fit them in?

I would like to say "you're welcome" to everyone who appreciates WRGB finally coming on board with TW. The reason this happened is that I just paid $90 for a new outdoor antenna and will pay another $90 to have it installed. I did this primarily so I could achieve a good picture OTA for channel 6. I guess if I pay a little more, maybe WEWB will also agree to broadcast on TW. Just ask for the undercoating...

This is only an educated guess, but I imagine they have to set up the guide data for channel 1806 and perform an update to the many STB's they have out there...? I guess that makes sense. Just seemed odd. But I'm not complaining. Now that Sinclair has fallen suit, do you think Tribune is far behind and we could see WEWB on the Lineup within, say, the next month?
