I have been notified by a very good source that the info hypothesized in the above two posts is indeed correct. Then just do it already, TWC. I'm very anxious. Need my ESPN fill...

I don't think there's any need for anxiety here...if one looks at the ESPN HD website the next live HD event is a college football game on Thursday 9/16...I'm betting that TWC has the issue resolved and the service available by then...till that time all you are missing on ESPN HD are the Sports Center "motor mouth/wise guys" in Hi Def....personally I can't stomach watching those clowns in normal reso...give me games...not faces and "too slick" wisecracks!!!!

I want ESPN HD as much as anyone.I also think everyone is going to disagree with me but here's my opinion about TWC adding ESPN HD and putting it in a package for $6.95. I am currently paying about $110 per month for TW Roadrunner and Digital Cable. For this I'm getting INDH and INDH2 included.I am not getting HDNET and HDNET Movies. Now if this package is the case I am either going to be paying the same and LOSE 2 stations or pay $6.95 more and get 2 stations I was already getting and ESPN HD while I'm already getting ESPN SD. Is TWC going to charge us more when ESPN2 comes on board? Or are they going to put ESPN2 in a package with TNT and the DVR? Where does it stop?If the cable companies are going to force us to buy packages they should also allow us to get rid of stations which we don't watch. Just a little venting.

I had a long conversation with a TWC rep who insisted that viewers would not have to pay additional for HD channels that were already broadcast in SD. However, this was a few months ago and times have definitely changed.

Hmmm, when will TWAlbany follow suit? If we are going to pay for it, should I let TW know now that I want it since it's in the pipeline? And if it IS activated, would it require a STB reboot, which means that it won't come until the next day?

You can manually reboot the STB by unplugging the A/C cord, let it sit for a minute, plug the cord back in the wall, do nothing and wait for the time to appear on the STB. The TWC customer service reps can also reboot the box remotely from their location. SONY007 says it will be on AlbanyTWC by the end of the week.

Wasn't one of Time Warner's beefs about ESPN-HD was that they had to pay more for the same content, just in a different format?
If so, I find it odd that they would make viewers pay more to see the same content, just in a different format.

I agree with you completely econ, as much as I would like to see another NFL game in HD each week I will not pay another $6.95 a month. My bill is also the same as yours, about $110 a month with RR, and that is already outrageous and a source of disdain with my wife. If this keeps up we will soon be paying for all HD content, might be time for a switch to satellite and OTA.

Not only will they ask you for more money, kia303, if you don't pay it you're going to lose two HD channels you already had. (INHD and INHD2)
It's all speculation thus far, but probably true.

Satellite, I pay $10 for their HD Tier, and thats only for Bravo HD, Discovery HD, INhd 1 & 2 and ESPN HD. Plus $500 up front cost on Equipment with a new dish and an HD reciever. I do this all of course for the Sunday NFL Ticket in HD. Otherwise, TWC more than supplies what I need, with a ton of less frustration. You also have to keep in mind TWC fought to save you money, thats why it took so long to get ESPN HD. The only channel we are missing now is WRGB. Sure Starz HD and Cinemax HD are out there, however they really have no content worth bugging TWC to get. Whatever the cost ends up being, if any, I will be more than willing to pay. ESPN HD is a necessity, not a want.
