My Hitachi 50" LCD is now 8 years old and it's time for a new TV.I'm confused.8 years ago I went with an LCD TV over plasma because the plasma TVs were too expensive and the burn in issues. Plasmas have come way down in price, but everyone I've talked to in the stores has given me a different story about burn in issues.I've got my eye on a PANASONIC "54 inch Class G10 VIERA 1080p Plasma HDTV,but would like to hear any recommendations. Thanks

I have a Zenith HDV420 High Def Receiver and a Winegard antenna on the roof.I rarely use this OTA system unless I am recording 2 programs simultaneously on my TW DVR. The system has worked perfectly and I didn't think it should be effected by the recent conversion from analog. However, when I checked it last night I do not get a signal from 6-1(CBS).All other stations come in normally.Does anyone know what I should do?

Yesterday, when the HD Net channels went off and Time Warner added 3 channels in their place, I felt compelled to call Time Warner and let them know my feelings.I asked to speak to a supervisor and when connected told her that removing quality programming and replacing it with second rate garbage is the best way to get me to change services. When I finished saying what I wanted to, the supervisor's response to me was that what I said was fine, but that my complaint would go no further than her.She didn't care.Time Warner doesn't care. I really need to get rid of Time Warner.Has anyone investigated the offer that Verizon is sending out which combines Verizon phone and internet with Direct TV?

More channels for Halloween of little or no interest to me.Is this a trick or a treat? If anyone from Timewarner monitors this site, when will you add some channels worth watching like FX HD,USA Network HD,Spike HD,NFL Network HD,Sci Fi Channel HD.My patience runs thin.

Ebo & DKennedy, Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. My tv is an older Hitachi,50V500.Unfortunately,to the best of my knowledge it does support HDMI.It has a DVI-HDTV input in the back. The HDMI cable that came with the Blu-Ray certainly does not fit it. It also has component: Y-Pb Pr HD inputs 1and 2 .

I just purchased a blu-ray player.I also have a Zenith hd receiver(for OA HD reception) and a Time Warner hi def receiver. My TV only has 2 HD imputs.I currently have to switch the wiring behind the HD receiver and the Blu-ray to get each to work.Does anyone know if there is there an A/B switch that I can run my Blu-ray and HD receiver with to run to the second TV hi def input?

I saw today that Timewarner has added 2 more HD stations and promises to add more. I for one am totally dissatisfied with the rate that Timewarner goes about adding to their HD tier. What about stations like FX ,USA and NFL Network to name a few.I have checked out a few other companies to compare. I currently have The Timewarner All in One package. I have 3 HD TVs.I To switch to Directv and keep Roadrunner and the telephone service would cost me $400 for 2 HD receivers and an extra $20 per month if I include their sports tier which would include Yes and MSG.They would supply me free an HD DVR for my 3rd television. It would also entail signing a 2 year contract. No thanks. Last week I visited a friend in Long Island. He recently converted to Verizon Fios. For essentially the same price as I am now paying ,he gets phone ,high speed internet and cable. Fios has about 30 more HD stations than Timewarner, a DVR with much more storage(and accessible to all other receivers in the house)and all equipment is free. The picture quality is great and the internet extremely fast I can't wait until Fios is available in the Albany area. As soon as it is, I shall dump Timewarner faster than they can tell us they are going to add more HD content.

Reply from Skeeter Lansing.... I have been working to improve the in house monitoring for HDTV, now we are both on the air and TWC. I will have the operator pay more attention to the HDTV audio along with video. We are not able to listen to analog and DTV audio simultaneously as the time difference between analog audio and DTV audio is up to 6 secs, with audio from WCDC-DT delayed the greatest amount. WTEN-DT is about 4 secs delayed and TWC 3 secs delayed.
It has presented us with unique problem of how to constantly monitor 10 streams of the same audio program but at different times, without driving the operator crazy. We only found this out after we came on air with our signals earlier this month.
I appreciate you taking the time to advise us of the problem, and apologize for not delivering a better product to your home.
Thank You Skeeter Lansing

I sent an e-mail to Skeeter Lansing at WTEN.... Skeeter, Are you aware that the last 3 nights there have been audio problems (no audio on MNF,NYPD Blue and Lost ) on the HD feed for various lenghts of time. This has been OTA and on TWC. IS this problem being resolved or should I tape the SD channel should I decide to use my DVR? I shall let everyone know what he says if he relies back...

Had the same problem with my 8000hd dvr. Picture switched from hd to sd and back, then lost speech for about 20 minutes. Has to be an ABC or WTEN issue. My guess is ABC. BTW,did anyone else notice that at the end of the Monday night Football game you could hear the fans and refs, but not Madden and Michaels. Wonder if the audio problems are related?

It does seem like Hi def programming is still an afterthought with the networks and TV stations. We who have Hi def TVs and crave hi def programming have to put up with stupid stuff like WTEN switching to SD to show their station ID and forgetting to hit a switch to go back to Hi def or WNYT not showing any of their Hi def offerings last night in Hi def etc. I guess we have to realize that we're at the beginning of the Hi def revolution and until owners of Hi def TVs become a majority, that the service we get will be overly expensive and second class.

If you go to the Voom website, it now says"Voom has ceased taking new customer orders and will shut down by the end of March".
