Raising the rates and we can't even get ESPN 2 HD yet. You gotta be kidding me. Dish network with the Voom HD channels is looking better everyday.

I had my set calibrated by an ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) calibrater. The difference was huge, the prices usually range anywhere from $250-$800. Check these links out and start here, Eliab at Avical is very good and does jobs up this way but I believe there could be a wait. www.avical.com/www.imagingscience.com/

I second Avia. It is the best one if your just starting out because it explains everything in great detail. I own Avia, Video Essentials and the new Digital Video Essentials.

Go to www.antennaweb.org and put in your information. It will tell you how far you are from the towers and how large of an antenna you will need. It will also show the direction the towers are located from you.

FOX is broadcsating in 480p widescreen. The NASCAR races are also in 480p widescreen as are all of their prime time shows. FOX plans on rolling out true HD by this fall. If you think NASCAR looks good now wait til you see them in HD.
Hopefully WRGB & WNYT will sign on with TWC for their HD feeds. No one knows for sure when this will happen.

Your best bet will be Voom. You get something like 30 HD channels plus they provide you with an antenna to pick-up OTA local HD channels which are WRGB, WNYT, PBS & WB. WTEN & FOX shouldn't be far behind. Voom just added ESPN also.

Looks like WMHT has looked at this forum Skaggs. Their logo bug isn't as bright now. They must have seen Horrorfan2112's thread on how bright that logo use to be.

I'm gonna watch at 11pm to see if they mention TWC when they tell us how to receive HDTV in the Capitol District, or will they just tell us to put antenna's on our roofs.

Here it is, the reply I got from Mr. Taubkin of TWC regarding ESPN-HD & YES-HD
Thanks very much for taking the time to contact me...and, of course, for the kind comments. Very much appreciated. As for ESPN HD, the issue is largely one of cost. We certainly hope to offer it and are very much aware of the interest. We do, however, currently pay significant licensing fees to ESPN for the programming we receive from them now (ie: ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN News, etc). Thus, our ability to offer ESPN HD is linked to its being made available to at a rate that is reasonable and which would not have us pay an unreasonable rate for programming we already receive in another format. Ultimately, it is such rates that make up in large part the rate we charge customers. That said, we're making every effort to offer the product and, again, hope to do so. As for YES, I can't say I'm aware of similar current discussions specific to YES HD..but can be confident the issues would be the same. Should I hear more, I'll be happy to pass that on. I also welcome you to stay in touch. In addition, if you're not already receiving it, I'll have you put on our HD online newsletter which would be a good source for any future announcements on HD programming. From all of us at TWC, thanks for checking in. We are grateful for your support and loyalty. -----Original Message-----

I'm gonna send an email. Right now I'm watching game 7 of the 03' ALCS on YES.
I wonder if INHD will have any Yankee games or will they be blacked out. I hear that INHD will carry 3 MLB games per week which is cool.

Can't wait for baseball season to start (big time Yankee fan)! Over at the AVS Forum they list their HDTV Programming Synopsis and it says:
YES - New York - broadcasting 1080i The latest rumor is that YES network will offer MLB New York Yankees home games in HDTV, begininng in April 2004. No known carriers as yet.
If TWC could get this I would die! Yankee home games in HD, it would put all my other HD channels to shame!
