#3 above is a known issue that they are currently working on and I don't expect them to have a fix yet but it's good to mention. (The info that is downloaded from TV Guide includes HD channels with the old TW lineup and the channel editor doesn't allow you to enter a 4 digit channel number like 1869). Of course, this can be fix if TWC gave tv guide the new updated channel lineup. How would I record ESPN HD if I can't tune to channel 1869? You can tune to channel 1869 just by entering the numbers in the remote control. Once you tune in the channel bring up your tv guide and set the manual recording. The issue above that I was discussing is with the tv guide channel information not with the built in tuner in the DVR. Once you start playing with your new device you will see what I'm referring to. TWC has to send a channel lineup update to Gemstar TV guide. Bought the last two available this morning from Justin at Tweeter. Justin didn't seem too pleased when I asked for 6 of them when I walked in. After saying, "Holy crap", he got on the phone and started calling the other stores. I walked around for 10 minutes and he came over and told me he could only get two. The total price (including tax) was $537.84. The signs in the store still list this DVR as $999.99, with a "special" tag posted next to it listing the price of $699.99. I said to Justin, "So, if anyone else come in asking for one of these they won't be able to get one?" He said, "That's right." As he processed my order, he told me they would be here in Albany on Monday afternoon. He also told me he would call me if he was able to get his hands on any more. THE DEMO IS NOW AVAILABLE. FIRST ONE TO TWEETER GET'S IT. I RESERVED IT UNDER DAVID KENNEDY FOR ALBANYHDTV FORUM MEMBERS. SPEAK TO JUSTINE. JUST STATE DAVID KENNEDY FROM UNION COLLEGE SENT YA!

Went to Tweeter today to pick up the two DVR's I ordered.
Justin told me the truck with the DVR's didn't arrive due to the snowstorm. He told me the DVR's would definitely be there tomorrow (Tuesday, 2/14/06).
I saw that the floor display model was still on the shelf. I asked Justin if he had the box for it. He said he didn't have the box, the HDMI cable, or the instructions. The lack of a box would be the issue for me, since you have to ship the thing back to SONY to get it's firmware updated. As I was contemplating the purchase, Justin told me that he was holding the floor display DVR for someone. So, I didn't have to make the decision whether to purchase it or not.
If it's there tomorrow when I pick up the two DVR's that were supposed to be there today, I'll probably get it.

I too got the "Snowstorm ate my homework" excuse. OK, I guess it's a legitimate setback given the strength of the storm in Mass. What are the odds the correct amount of DVR's show up on the truck?

I got 'em all too, don't know when I'll have time to play with one of them though.

It must be a clearance item, but either way, it will be fine for me. I'm replacing a 12 year old S-VHS unit. I ordered it online from them, and will be happy if they fill the order and it arrives.

You would think the folks at tweeter would know about eBay. The ones I bought last week are listed now and have already been bid past what I paid for them. Guess we wont see tweeter's CEO on the cover of Fortune this month.

It seems like Tweeter is completely out of stock on the Sony DHG-HDD500 DVR's...

Guess we wont see tweeter's CEO on the cover of Fortune this month. I bought three for a total of $806.76. Sold two on eBay for a total of $932.00. So, I got a FREE DVR and $125.24 in my pocket. Thank you, dkennedy. With the money I made, I plan on making the Forum section of the website "ad-free" for a few months starting on March 1st.

Thanks, Skaggs for doing that. Although I would've been more than happy to contribute a little via PayPal for "membership".

I dropped my Sony DVR off at UPS on Tuesday 2/21/06. I sent it back to Sony for the firmware upgrade.
On Friday, 2/24/06, I got an email from Sony stating the upgrade was complete and the DVR has been shipped back to me. The UPS tracking info states it will arrive back at my house on Tuesday, 2/28/06, only a one week turn-around time.
