Really, mine seems to cut off just the right side, it's minor, and I can't imagine any programming being hindered seriously by it, but like I said, on Discovery HD, half of the D is cut off, which annoys the nuts off of me. BTW, I have had time warner out to my house 4 or 5 times in 2 months because my cable box would randomly lock up and reboot. I'm on my 5th box, and they have already run all new cable through my house all the way to the pole, so there are no more excuses. It hasn't happened since the last upgrade to the boxes, although during the beginning of the Giants-Eagles game, the audio kept jumping in and out, but the problem went away by halftime. The funny thing is, everytime I called Time Warner to tell them about my box crashing, they said they've never heard of the problem, but all the tech's that came to my house knew all about it, that it was hit or miss with the 8000HD box, and they told me to keep calling and complaining until I finally got a working cable box. Hopefully this one is it, it only took 5!!!!

Since the recent firmware upgrade, I find that my 8000HD DVR is turned off when I get up in the morning. I usually keep it powered on all the time, but it seems as if it turns itself off automatically now. Yes. Mine is doing the same thing. I was getting excited everytime I found it off in the morning thinking TW was adding oh maybe ESPN-HD like their doing across the country as of Friday. TWC has indicated to me that a new "sleep" mode was installed on the 8000HD DVR when the recent firmware upgrade was installed. This explains why the DVR is off when I get up in the morning.

Kia, My DVR unit did the same thing until the last SARA update. It would delete items I HAD recorded and set to 'save until I erase'. It was also continuously deleting the "scheduled recordings", so that when I went into the Playlist and hit "B" (scheduled recordings) it would be empty. of course, after the SARA update, I go into "B" and there's like 5 scheduled recordings of Six Feet Under that I'd put in because it kept erasing them. Definitely something wrong with the SARA software. Well I must have a defective unit, it is not storing shows again and I have to continually go and redo the record list. To make matters worse I was watching a recorded show last night and it kept switching channels to a Adult PPV channel(875) while I was watching. I am going to cancel this thing, I have had to do numerous reboots and reprogram the menu and it makes my wife angry, she is not very tech saavy. It amazes me when companies put their product on the market to quickly before working out the bugs, good thing I did not buy this unit.

The DVR power save mode has been deactivated on all the DVR boxes but it won't take affect until the DVR is rebooted.
