Kia:
Is it possible the hard drive on the DVR is filled and it can't record any more shows until you delete some?
I had this happen once because I have it set to record Sopranos, Artic Mission, & Curb Your Enthusiasim. It records ALL THE EPISODES instead of just the new ones. Since HBO & Discovery frequently replay the episodes, the DVR filled it's hard drive with repeats of all these shows. I now have to routinely go into the "list" and delete the repeats in order to preserve the space on the hard drive for future recordings. (BTW - my TiVo's never have this problem because the software allows you to record only the 1st run of each episode)
I also experienced an instance when the DVR erased all my scheduled recordings for no apparent reason. Maybe TWC sent a software update and it erased the programs form memory?? I don't know.
I know TWC reps lurk in this forum. It would be nice if they could reply with some answers.

Skaggs, I only have one episode of Survivor on my hard drive so that is not the problem. I delete everything after I watch it.

Just a quick update, I did the reboot and it seems to have helped. I tried to watch NYPD Blue today and it was in slow motion without any sound. I did the reboot and the show was fine, no audio problems and it is now saving my recorded list. Thanks for the help. Kurt

Well I must have a defective unit, it is not storing shows again and I have to continually go and redo the record list. To make matters worse I was watching a recorded show last night and it kept switching channels to a Adult PPV channel(875) while I was watching. I am going to cancel this thing, I have had to do numerous reboots and reprogram the menu and it makes my wife angry, she is not very tech saavy. It amazes me when companies put their product on the market to quickly before working out the bugs, good thing I did not buy this unit.

Kia:
Why don't you call TWC and voice your disgust? Maybe they will refund you a few months rental fees or somehow make it up to you.
I know for a fact that a lot of TWC customer service reps lurk here in the forum, reading our posts. It would be appreciated if one of them could contact Kia (either by PM or email) and let him know what to do in order to "make it right".

Thanks Skaggs, I am going to contact TWC on 5/11, I just thought that if I posted here and someone else was experiencing the same problems that it might be a more widespread software problem and not just a bad unit. But it appears I may have a bad STB, if that is the case I will replace with a new one, but if it is more widespread I may wait till they work out the kinks.

My 8000HD DVR has repeatedly deleted the scheduled recordings of the HBO shows Six Feet Under and Entourage.
I'll take an educated guess and say it deletes them because they are replayed 20 times a week and it does not have the capacity to record all of them. The new software update is supposed to have a "record first run only setting", like my TiVo's do.
This is so frustrating.

I don't know if this is a feature or not on my 8000HD, but my standard definition recordings ALWAYS get deleted. I can't even rewind standard definition porgramming. But HD programming, no problem. Is this HOW it's supposed to function?

Those of you with the 8000HD should notice a software change this morning. I was notified that TWC downloaded new software to the 8000HD on Wednesday, 9/1/04. This new update will display the percent of the hard drive used and a few other things.
However, the DVI port has still not been activated.

No, you should call TWC. Are you saying the recordings get deleted or the recording schedule? Either way, it should not happen. It's weird, and since the box has rebooted, I haven't checked it since. But this was what's happening: The box would only record HDTV programming. Standard Definition Programming wasn't recording (neither the 1 hour buffer nor any SD Channel Recordings). I'll have to check it when I get home today.

Since the recent firmware upgrade, I find that my 8000HD DVR is turned off when I get up in the morning. I usually keep it powered on all the time, but it seems as if it turns itself off automatically now.

Yes. Mine is doing the same thing. I was getting excited everytime I found it off in the morning thinking TW was adding oh maybe ESPN-HD like their doing across the country as of Friday.
Maybe we'll get it soon Skaggs.

Does anyone else notice that the stretched picture on their 8000HD cuts off the right side of the picture? Mine cuts off a sliver of the picture on the right when zoomed or on hd channels in normal mode. For example on Discovery HD, part of the D in HD is cut off in the lower right corner? The tech came and said he thought is was the cable box doing it, because it doesn't happen with my dvd player. BTW, I have a toshiba 57" wide HD ready.

I've noticed that the normal window-boxed picture cuts off a portion of the top and bottom of the screen. It doesn't show the full picture. I noticed this when watching ESPN. The top and bottom of the screen are cut off. Irritating.
