I've been considering trying to call up and take advantage of this loyalty promotion (info.tivo.com/PS!mOFdG9Bn/gcFBgIAAAAGCgFICgkxMTQ2MTU2NTcKCjIxMDM2ODc1NjYJAG7n5AoJNzUwNzM5ODI3BQ==?TSN=1234) for current S3 owners, to get a Premiere 4 with my transferred S3 lifetime subscription, as well as a new lifetime subscription for my S3 for $350. I thought if I did that, I could put the S3 in the bedroom with multi-room viewing in mind. From what I am reading though, it seems like you can only transfer shows between S3 and Premiere, not stream them. Transferring shows would take forever, so I'm not too keen on that.
The answer to do what I want to do seems to be purchasing a TiVo Mini once it comes out. I can stick that in the bedroom, and it can watch live tv or recorded shows from the Premiere downstairs (assuming I take advantage of that deal and get one). Then perhaps I can sell my TiVo HD (any ideas what I could get for a TiVo HD w/ 1TB drive and lifetime subscription?), and get a TiVo Mini for the bedroom. I watched the video of it on Engadget, and it seems like it will do what I want, but at the end the guy mentions the fee for the Mini will be less or you have the option to buy a lifetime subscription for it. I was shocked. The Mini wouldn't be downloading any guide data, the Premiere would do that. All it would do is extend the range of the Premiere. Seems like a money grab by TiVo. Anyway, any ideas when this will be out, or what it will cost (purchase and/or subscription)?
