So I ordered the cable card online, it came in the mail a few days later (okay via UPS). I was a bit shocked as the website said "self install kit". Well the "Kit" consists of just a cable card and nothing else. No phone # to call, nothing.
really?
All that for $2.50 PLUS a $24.99 setup fee or something?
Oh, and then you have to go to a completely diff. website to fill out a Tuning Adapter form and wait for someone to send you a letter.
I'd take Verizon but they're still missing about 7 HD channels I regularly watch. They FINALLY (after like 2 years) got BBC America HD. So at that rate it'll be about 10 more years before they get the others on board.

Time Warner? Weird, I have 2 CableCards and wasn't charged any fees for either. I didn't order online, I called up and talked to someone. They sent the card and tuning adapter. For the first CableCard I had a tech come out and help set it up, the second I did myself. If I remember correctly there is an option when calling TW for activating CableCards, and the tech I talked to pretty much knew exactly what to do for my setup (HDHomeRun Prime). If you activate over the phone you should be able to get any fees taken off ... unless policies have changed since the beginning of the year.
