...but want to keep my Roadrunner Turbo... How much is it gonna cost me? $59.99 PER MONTH! Just for internet!
Got the current DirecTV special. NFL Sunday Ticket, all the regional sports networks, all the movie channels for under $90 a month. First three months will be around $60 a month since HBO/Starz/Cinemax/Showtime are free for 3 months. Free installation, plus another $5 a month off if I gave them an email address to spam.
My Time Warner bill was $156.00 for a DVR, HD Box, and the Encore channels with Turbo RR. DirecTV is giving me a HD DVR for free, and 4 other receivers for free.
I can downgrade to the Choice Ultimate package and only pay $44.99 a month for exact same channels I had. It even includes Encore which I was paying extra for.
They offered to lower my bill to $141 a month and keep what I have right now. I didn't budge.
I'm sure I'll get a call from them tomorrow.
I'm not budging on the cable. It's gone. I really wish I had another provider to choose from for Internet.
Gonna cancel my account and put it in my roommates name. At least I'll save 10 bucks a month and get the promotional deal as a new customer.
Don't know why I didn't make the switch to dish sooner.

As expected, Time Warner called me back today. They offered me everything I have now (Digital + Turbo RR + HD Dvr + additional Box + Encore) for $80 a month, locked in at a two year guarantee.
Something to consider I guess.

What are you ever going to do without YNN and TWC Sports!? Good move on your part. I'd be right behind you if my landlord would allow DTV to install a dish and I was willing to sign a 2 year contract.

Right now, I've had it with TWC. Constant issues with the DVR boxes. I'm basically waiting for DirecTV to catch up to them with HD. If they get the few core HD channels I want, I'm gone fast!

Which channels are you waiting for? DIRECTV is way ahead of TWC at this point and the few they don't have may have come in the last few months... they've launched 6 more in the last 5 weeks alone. BBCA, TCM, Disney Jr, Nat Geo Wild, BeIN and DIY are all HD now on DIRECTV

Cooking Channel, DIY, Fuse, GSN, Headline News, HUB, IFC, ID, LMN, Oxygen, Reelz, Style, TV Land and We. At last check DIY was not on their channel list. So, if they've added it then that is one less. D* is far behind in actual network HD compared to Time Warner. That list represents the mains that my household wants/watches. They are still missing about 5-10 more. If they get the line up, it's a done deal unless Tivo or a third party comes out with a unit capable of OTA plus 4 tuners. Dish has more basic HD than D* now, but AMC is a deal breaker with the wife and honestly, the company is notorious for constant fee fights.
Can you comment on D*'s VOD? How do they do it and what do they offer?

As another alternative, I've been super happy ever since I switched to Windows 7 Media Center + CableCard + HDHomeRun Prime (2). Still Time Warner, but no bugs, no glitches, just records like Tivo. Of course, not everyone may want to set up media center PCs to do this; but if you are so inclined, it works quite well.

I can say I'm very happy after dropping Time Warner. The VOD selection is simply unbelievable on DirecTV. Type in just about any movie from the past 30 years and you can play it within seconds, most of them free. It blows Time Warner right out of the water.
However, I got one of the free HD DVR's which I have connected to my HDTV in the man cave. The other TV's in the house are analog and use the standard receivers. D* offers some of the movie channels ONLY in HD, so those channels don't show up those TV's. I accidentally got Standard Receivers instead of HD receivers for my analog TV's. At least the HD receiver can down-res the channel for me.
Love the sports pack too. I get about 30-35 regional sports networks, on top of all the alternate feeds and ESPN alternate feeds.
Loving my NFL Sunday Ticket (which was free for this year). Every Sunday I have a Game Mix channel that let's me watch 8 games at once on my 70 inch and switch the sound to whatever of the 8 channels I want. Each time a touchdown is scored in any game it flashes on the top of the screen.
Time Warner can't hold a candle to what I've got now.

See, I could care less about the sports. I know the equipment is superior, but I'd still need the AM21 on at least two sets and the lack of HD networks is my sticking point. Honestly, if they get the missing channels I will leave in a second. I see they added DIY, but they still lack all the following and then some:
Cooking Channel, G4, Fuse, GSN, Headline News, HUB, IFC, ID, LMN, Oxygen, Reelz, Style, TV Land and We
Time Warner just crushes their HD line up.

My TWC promo rate ended 9/19. Bill went up 50% to $167. Talked to customer retention, "best" they could do was $160 / month. Looks like I'll have to do a cancel / resubscribe deal (I think someone mentioned doing this before). Or, hope they change their mind and call back.

That is one thing with TWC - you can usually haggle for a better deal and get a discounted rate or promo package. Honestly, if the software/set tops were not so glitchy and worked, I'd not even consider another provider.
DirecTV doesn't really deal with customers, they figure let em' go.

In most cases the channels you've listed just aren't on the list of ones people care about so in your case you're stuck it sounds like. Besides, I don't consider what TW shows "HD"... it's downright embarrassing to watch on anything over 40 inches. I have a friend with a UN60ES8000 and trees that are too tall to get DIRECTV and it's just a waste watching Time Warner's bit-starved MPEG2 feeds.
