From the Saturday, April 16, 2011 Times Union:
Verizon unveils a new screen guide for FiOS TV
Although it has only been offering its FiOS TV in the Capital Region for about a month now, Verizon has unveiled a new screen guide for the cable TV system’s viewer interface.
The company says it has done 25 separate upgrades to what it calls its Interactive Media Guide based on product development labs, field trials and social media forums.
Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse and Harrisburg, Pa., are the first areas to get the upgrades. Other markets across the East Coast will be upgraded in coming months.

We are the lucky ones right now. I'm on vacation in VA and we are staying with relatives near DC. They have FiOS TV and are still on IMG 1.8. They also have the older model DVR and STB.
They are also paying a higher rate. For TV/Phone (they get a T1 line equivalent with their HOA fees) with a DVR and 4 STBs, they are paying $140 a month.

Wait til you see what you'll be paying after the promos are up. There is no bigger bait-and-switch than Verizon FiOS service. Waaay worse than TWC once the honeymoon is over.

I'd say it's about equal on both. TW promo on my RR expired, and they wanted another $25/month more (almost double what I was paying). They wouldn't budge an inch on the price. So I dropped and went to Verizon. When my FIOS special pricing ended, Verizon wanted $15/month more, but when I called they said they could do a package deal to save some money. Although we'll see when Verizon gets more HD channels, because right now their package isn't looking so good in terms of channels vs. price. although I'd be able to dump that stupid SDV and get rid of the CCI byte on cable cards.

Verizon has less channels because they are not re-compressing the signal. While I really miss BBCA HD, I do love the better picture quality.
I'm under no illusions that the FiOS pricing will go up. Competition will keep it on par with TWC. more or less.

Yeah, I'm taking a "wait and see" approach for a few months. I looked at the channel list, and there's 5-7 "missing" HD channels (plus it looks like Starz is NOT available on FIOS, although I thought I read something like on 4/11/11 Starz signed something with Verizon).
Given that people have been asking (and Verizon has been telling) that BBC America HD has been "in the queue" since 2009, I don't think it'll happen any time soon. But I could be wrong.
No SDV is another plus, but I'll see what happens.

Verizon FiOS TV puts IMG 1.9 set top-box software rollout on hold over a few issues By Richard Lawler, EngadgetHD, posted May 14th 2011 4:52PMIf you're a Verizon FiOS TV customer waiting for the IMG 1.9 software to hit your box with its new HD guide and other updates you may be waiting slightly longer than you expected since the company has paused things to handle a couple of issues. Zatz Not Funny links to a forum thread where Director of Consumer Product Development Joe Ambeault confirms the rollout is "pausing for a moment to incorporate some customer feedback." Two issues specifically mentioned are the contrast between text and background and SD override wizard. There's no word of any change to the originally expressed plans of delivering the software to all of its customers in "the coming months" so we don't expect the delay to last too long, we'll let you know when we hear something more specific.

I think the hold on the IMG 1.9 rollout is for other markets. We got the latest Moto hardware and there were issues with older devices with 1.9.

I read that BBC America HD is next on Verizon's list. Now I will push for Verizon to add CNN Headline News HD.
