Upon looking at the dsl report config seems the Moca bridge (in my case) would be ideal (I don't care about caller ID or remote DVR access since I will have a Tivo).
Apparently certain Actiontec routers (I THINK that's my old crappy one) can be a bridge.
Of course, I've still got months to go since I'm in the TOWN of colonie, not the village.
I was thinking about getting the business Internet line (25/25) for $100/month but not sure if that will ruin any discount for TV.

My install was done on Saturday. I've spent a total of 10 minutes using the phone/internet/watching tv since so I don't have alot to report. Also I have not gotten any bill yet. Phone - I did get the FIOS VOIP service - I need to dial 10 digit for any call even local 518. TV - 7232 DVR. The 2nd box is a 71XX. A few photos from the channel guide they gave me for local stuff below. I didn't compare this to what we actually are able to watch. They will provide HDMI cables if you need them. Internet - Verizon provided wireless router (B/G/N) good coverage throughout the house (router is in the basement) Speed test screenshots below from my mac on Wifi - did this at about 6:45AM Monday.

I'm in the middle of the install. My connection speed has already jumped from 20/5 to The router is a wireless N model, but I'm going to keep using my Netgear. The VZ router is a single band, I have a dual band. They forgot the cablecard for my TiVO, but they are running one out now. I ended up getting one more STB. I'll have the multiroom DVR (Moto 7232), 3 STBs, and cablecard. [EDIT] They have completed the install. The installer was very knowledgeable and walked me through all of the settings, widgets, and parental controls. I walked him through his first cablecard install. The cablecard install went much easier than it did with Time Warner. He was able to pair the card with an app that he ran on my PC. TiVo still does not have the Bethlehem zip codes associated with FiOS, I used 12205 instead. Not having a Tuning Adapter made the TiVo setup much easier. A manager had come out to drop off the cable card, it was left off the installation order. Great picture on both the VZ hardware and the TiVo, but I have not spent a lot of time with it The UI on the FiOS boxes makes the Time Warner UI look like CompuServe, circa 1986. Easy to use and they have a help channel and VOD help. Until I get used to everything, I'm going to run the routers in the suggested VZ layout. The VZ router goes between the Internet and my network. My Netgeear router is on a separate subnet. Since my router has better WiFi, I turned off the radio on the VZ router. As long as my WHS box can punch a hole through the various firewalls, I''l be set. I did lose one of my favorite channels, BBC America HD. They have the SD channel, but I'll miss the HD channels. I am not the only one complaining about this, hopefully they'll add this.

Haha I'm drooling over those upload speeds, I work at a web hosting company in Clifton park and we get 75MBs download but only 10 to 15 MBs up from time earner.

None of the MSGs are in HD? Really? I get all 5 of them (3 in HD) on DIRECTV... sounds like no local HD hockey on FIOS I guess.... hope they fix that.

Time Warner Business Class Roadrunner or Time Warner Telecom? Two different providers. We have twtelecom and have 150up/150down but that's a whole different ball of wax.

thanks for all the info you posted Chris. along with the pretty pictures. Glad your install went smooth (wish my TW Cable installs went like that). Keep us posted. The 25/25 speed for internet seems pretty awesome (I think I'm at 25/15 or something right now).

At this point, I'm leaning towards keeping the VZ Router as the primary (or outer) router. I'm not planning on copying media files to the VZ DVR, I'll keep my toys running on the subnet managed by my Netgear (the inner router). I had to do some tweaking to get my Windows Home Server box connected to the outside world, but that seems to be fine too. If anyone else has a WHS box and wants to get remote access working through 2 routers, this is what worked for me: - Assign a static IP address to the WHS box from the inner router. The OEM firmware in my Netgear router supports this.
- Set up port forwarding on the inner router to the WHS box. You will need to forward ports 80, 443, and 4125 to the static IP address that you assigned to the WHS box.
- On the VZ router forward the same ports to the inner router.
- Run the Remote Access Repair Wizard on the WHS console to verify that the connection is working.
That's all I needed to get that to work.

Verizon doesn't have MSG or MSG plus Hd anywhere. Cablevision witheld the channels bc verizon is in direct competition w cablevisions systems in downstate NY. Believe there is a lawsuit pending concerning it.
