The call went to the replay booth, and got overturned.
The NFL has just sent notice that the New York Giants-Minnesota Vikings game, moved to Monday night and from Minneapolis to Detroit because of weather issues and the collapse of the Metrodome roof, will in fact air on Fox 23.
Earlier this afternoon both station and NFL officials said Albany would be shut out from seeing the game on over-the-air TV.
“Update: the game will be on the FOX affiliate in Albany,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said. “We worked it out.”
Fox 23 general manager Bill Sally was ecstatic.
“It is big,” he said, noting the station kept pressing the NFL through the Fox network to change its mind. “Obviously they are making a huge exception to the rule.”
Coverage will begin with a pre-game show at 7 p.m., followed by kickoff at 7:20. Joe Buck and Troy Aikman have the call, Sally said.
