ok this feature has been on directv for years, it seems so simple, and confuses consumers less.
How many times have you walked out to the living room and one of your family members is watching a show in SD on your big HDTV when its available in HD?? because it a hassle to find the hd channel of it and they know the standard channels by heart. Its a huge pet peeve of mine, here it is I spend thousands of dollars on a nice home theater set and its difficult/hassle for family members to find the correct the HD channel because time warner has them all over the place in there lineup.
Basically what im requesting is that when I type channel 37 in the time warner remote that the digital converter box obviously knows its an HD box, so it should display the HD channel instead of the SD "37" channel, and "37" is working as a domain name for the HD channel.
DirecTV has this feature, and it they call the feature "Hide SD duplicate channels". Basically this guaranty's that the customer will always see the show there watching in the highest quality, so if they type "37" it will either show the HD version automatically or just re tune to the HD channel number.
Does anyone know if this is in time warners future, or if its possible now and im just not aware?

Not in our division - I've talked to our regional rep numerous times about this problem. I've asked for Guide Filter so I can delete the SD versions, asked for a Show HD option, etc... no plans are in the works right now. We may see actual Guide Filtering some day (could be years). I agree with you, it's extremely annoying to go out and find my wife recorded or is is watching an SD version of an HD channel. Most of this stems from piss poor channel alignment. I suggested our division do something like others (Charlotte) and do a complete channel realignment with tiers based on theme/category (IE: News, Family, Sports, etc) then do the +1 feature as its called. All the channels are align so the HD version can be found by simply adding 1 in front of the SD number. For example, here the Food Network is analog SD 39 and the HD version is digital HD 827. One would think that the HD version would coincide with the SD version and be channel 839. However, there are now too many channel to do that. a realignment would have all the channels put into the 1000's for HD.
It's just sad that TWC gives us a new up to date guide that is still outdated by guide from 1996! They really need to look at the way sat does it.

Agreed, when time warner first got hd channels you basically typed 18 in front and then the channel number it is on standard cable and you would get the hd channel, now its just all over the place half HBO channels in HD are in 1700's half at the end of 1800's, then you have hd on demand movie channels throw right in the middle of everything so simple channel browsing isnt possible, you get stuck on the hd demand channels for like 2 mins trying to scroll. I cant even tell you how many people ive ran into in there homes, between friends and family, who are watching a show in SD, have a HD cable box, and think that what there watching in SD is the HD version because they have a hd box not realizing they ahve to put it on a separate channel for HD. They don't even realize the quality there missing out on, and then when I show them the correct channel there wow'd away. The simple feature I listed above would solve this epidemic, and resolve ALLOT of confusion for the non tech savvy people. Technology is supposed to make life easier and better, not more complicated. Even COX cable in Las Vegas (where my parents live) allow you todo this, they even let you skip over channels you evener watch, so when im just channel surfing I dont run into spanish channels or shopping networks.
