Jeff Simmermon, the Digital Communications Director for Time Warner Cable posted the following on his Twitter feed today:
That link resolves to www.twcableuntangled.com/2010/08/were-developing-an-ipad-app-a-conversation-with-glenn-britt-and-mike-lajoie/ and has links to a 4 part Youtube conversation about their iPad app. It's work in progress, but it's like having giant interactive remote control. It can control a TWC DVR and schedule recordings.
They showed demos of TV shows streamed to the device. It was not clear if it was being streamed from a TWC cable box or directly from the Internet. They did say that the app had to know about their cable box.
There was lots of talk about adding search capabilities, between recorded content and VOD content. They also mentioned that other platforms would be targeted, like laptops, iPhones, game consoles, etc.
