I used to have the "Nearest Tune" setting enabled so that if I entered a channel that didn't exist, it would auto tune to the closest channel. I just got home from work and turned on my 8300HD to find out that setting isn't there anymore and won't work. Is this happening to anyone else? Time Warner even has a FAQ up about this: www.timewarnercable.com/northeast/support/navigator/faqs.htmlIt seems like Time Warner is just screwing with us at this point. Removing HD channels, taking away settings options in the cable boxes. This pisses me off.

Just tried it and there was no option for "Nearest Tune".

I have an 8300HDC and the option is still there in the menu. It's turned on. To test it, I tried tuning to 1807 and it automatically went to WXXAHD on 1808.

On the 8300HDC the nearest tune does in fact work. On the 8300HD there is no such option. The onscreen display shows " ?" and then just stays put. I was under the impression that both boxes should essentially be identical except for the built-in security versus CableCARD. There are a couple of other differences. One is that when changing zoom settings with the "#" key, the HDC version shows arrows with the zoom setting label while the HD version does not.

I have two 8300HD and have always had the Nearest Tune option until yesterday, when it suddenly disappeared.
I wish we could get FiOS...

MDN Navigator that is deployed in our markets do not have Nearest Tune. None of the HD boxes have it. The ODN "C" boxes have it.
mjbanks, can you post your current version of Navigator? I have never had Nearest Tune on my 8300HD. If you did, then lost it - you must have had an update applied to your box. What was your prior version to losing it?

At work now and have no idea how to check the version, so I couldn't say what I had before.

If you have a "C" box with a cablecard in it:
Hold Select on the remote until the Mail Icon flashes, then push the down arrow. You can then go through you diagnostic pages.
You can also scan your Fav setup to see if your headend lists the install and diag channels. Here they are 1990 &1997

I believe on that model you hold Select on the front panel until the mail light flashes and then press info, if that doesn't work try the down arrow instead of the info button. This will tell you what version, but I can confirm that Nearest Tune was removed from MDN Navigator.
