I have a 8300HD DVR and over the past year or so I have had to exchange it three times for the following reasons:
First, when the cable box does it's nightly reboot, whenever TW sends updates etc., I wake up in the morning to see that the box is off, meaning that there is no time displayed and the power button doesn't turn it on. Doing a cold reboot doesn't even solve the problem because it doesn't work. The solution is to unplug the power cord and plug it back in. It would be fine for a couple days then it does it again.
Secondly, which has happened as recently as last evening, the box would reboot while watching TV. I was watching a show around 9:30 last night and all of a sudden the box shut off and did a reboot, this is happening a bit more frequently.
I have a second box (same model) in my living room and have had zero problems. Actually, that box is the original one.
This has happened on all three boxes that I've exchanged so I'm figuring it has to do with the cable line (which were all replaced a year or two ago for a different problem) and not the box. Before I call a tech to "try" to solve this problem, has anyone else had this problem and would anyone be able to offer a solution?
Thank you, Chris

When I HAD the 8300HD DVR it used to do that all the time. I got rid of it and went with Tivo.
Out of curiosity, did TW Albany ever update their SARA software to support the "first run" only recordings on the 8300 DVR?
Meaning you tell it you only want to record "first runs" of say, Law & Order. Otherwise it would record all episodes, including repeats.
