This is great news! I wonder how long it'll take for the carriage deals to work themselves out and bandwidth to become available for us to get these channels? I really want MTV, Spike, and Comedy Central HD.

Since the last batch or 2 of HD channels brought us over 100 (according to TWC's count), I doubt they're in a hurry to give us anymore anytime soon. As long as they can say "over 100 HD channels," they're happy I'm sure. They still haven't added NBATV-HD, which is supposed to be added by 12/31 according to the latest legal notice.
With TWC-NYC not adding the Viacom channels until 1/27, I doubt we'll see any before then as we rarely (if ever) get HD channels before NYC does.

Last year at this time, Time Warner Albany had a whole number of channels to be added and it took months (until October I believe) before they were all finally added. I would anticipate the same being said for NBA TV HD and the Viacom channels this year.
Scott, I agree with your overall assessment.

Sometime within the past week, my Tivo S3 showed me a message that NBA TV HD had been added on channel 1771.
Of course this only means that it has been added to the guide data.
Who knows when it will actually be available.

The latest legal notice from 11/30 says that NBA channel is moving "on or before 12/31" so this is actually right in line with that statement...for once.

nothing new on any HD channels in the latest (March 15) channel change notice on the TW website. However, they are moving a bunch of analog and digital channels around. Here is the latest info:
The following changes are scheduled to take place: Speed channel will be relocating from the Digital Sports Tier to the Classic Cable/Standard Tier on April 1. Starting on or about April 15, 2010 digital equipment will be needed to continue viewing the following channels (these channels will remain in their existing packages and they will continue to be available in a digital format that can be viewed using digital cable equipment, such as a digital set-top box or a CableCard equipped Unidirectional Digital Cable Product – UDCP): Oxygen, SoapNet, CMT, Speed. Starting on or about April 15, 2010, “Style” will move from the Standard Cable tier on channel 77 to Digital Cable channel 355. Digital Equipment and a subscription to Digital Cable will be required to continue viewing “Style.” Starting on or about April 20, 2010, the following channels will be repositioned but remain in their existing packages: National Geographic from channel 76 to channel 78, MSG from channel 73 to channel 54, Versus from channel 75 to channel 44, and Shop NBC from channel 44 to channel 1120. Starting on or about March 29, 2010, National Geographic Wild will be added to the Digital Basic tier on channel 410 and FOX Reality Channel will be deleted from Digital Basic tier channel 410. Movies On Demand Action channel 1015, Movies On Demand Comedy channel 1016, and Movies On Demand Drama channel 1017 will no longer be available after 3/31/10. Channel 1125 Cornerstone to be deleted. WRNN, Kingston, NY to be deleted (except for Kinderhook).

Time Warner has had a carriage agreement with Viacom for over a year (or close to it), by the time NY gets in line they'll be up for retrans again!

With a bunch of analog channels recently getting moved to digital only, I would hope we're in line for some new HD channels soon with all that freed up bandwidth. I've been really wanting the Viacom channels for a long time now. These are pretty much on the only channels left I want in HD that we don't have already (other than the NFL Network, which I'm not holding my breath for...)

I don't know about your division, but here in Syracuse/Rome they are running 6 test channels in the HD Tier. With any luck these are the Viacom HD chanels.
