I just changed out my 8300HDC for the newer 8240HDC and am now having problems with the remote operating the cable box (remote is a Synergy V). I returned my old 8300 because it was acting up and they gave me this 8240, apparently the same as the 8300 but without an analog tuner. I immediately returned the first 8240 thinking the box was bad (even contacted TW tech support, no go). The second box did the same thing. I narrowed it down to interference caused by the TV screen (46" Toshiba Regza). The box changes channels without a problem if the TV is off, and if I place cardboard in front of the TV screen the problem magically disappears. I also tried covering up anything in the room that I thought might be reflecting back at the cable box, that didn't work. In other forums, people have stated that newer LED tvs have a feature that warms up the screen for the first 5-15 minutes, and this has caused the same exact issue...only thing is this is not an LED tv. Along with posters on these other forums, this problem goes away after 15 minutes or so of the TV being on. I also have a 4250HDC that works fine in the same spot in the same room under the same condition of the TV starting cold. The old 8300 never had this issue. A tech is going to stop by tomorrow, but other than swapping for an older 8300 - if they have any - I don't know what else can be done.
Suggestions?

They can give you a IR extender. You can then cover up the IR sensor with the transmitter end of the extender and a little electrical tape to stop the IR interference your tv is inducing. Then mount the receiver end of the extender to a location which is not affected by the tvs interference.
Sounds like the red necks in Atlanta (SA) decided to pick a IR receiver on these newer model boxes which is just a bit too sensitive.

Yeah hopefully the tech can leave one of those extenders if swapping the box doesn't fix it. Normally they're $20 a pop.
I hear TW Albany has those Samsung boxes in testing. The sooner they're out the better. I can't wait to get rid of these SA boxes.

Tech looked at it and admitted that he's never seen this before and couldn't do anything except change back to the 8300, which he was out of. Later on I swapped it out at their office and got an 8300, all is well again. I guess time will tell if this was an anomaly or if SA really blundered this new box.
