I've casually noticed over the past month or so that my RR has been faster. I just pay for the regular ole road runner, not turbo, no bells and whistles, and to the last of my recollection I could get 10Mb down and 1Mb up, which was fast enough for what I do. Yesterday I decided to check again and I'm pulling 20Mb down and 1Mb up. I checked my bill and they didn't switch me to turbo or anything. Are others experiencing this as well, or should I just consider myself lucky?

I'd say lucky (or whichever speed measurement you use is "faulty"). I've got the Turbo and the ONLY place I can get 20mb down is using RR own "speedtest" to the Albany servers. Even testing to their other RR sites doesn't get me anywhere above 4-5 mbps down. And real-world to California, or Microsoft, etc. is actually slower than Verizon's 10/2 FIOS that I had.

I noticed the same speed increase. Just thought it might have something to do with running win7 now and maybe it handled data via wifi more efficiently or something. So I checked on my hardwired desktop running XP and it also tests higher than it had on DSLreports and Speedtest.net. Up around 15.5/1 for reg RR A quick look at the speeds listed on TWC's site indicates that regular RR now has the powerboost. Maybe this has given my speed a bit more umph? No complaints here www.timewarnercable.com/Albany/learn/hso/roadrunner/speedpricing.html

Oh ok, didn't realize that standard RR subscribers got powerboost now. That might explain it, since I've run speedtest a few times now and it's gotten up to 20Mb, but also 15Mb, and 12Mb. BTW I love TWC's chart for speed and pricing on which subscription can do what. Last time I checked 10Mb down and 1Mb up was [way] more than enough for online gaming, video conferencing, and streaming videos. I skype with family all the time, and who can't stream youtube or netflix because they only have 10Mb?

Gizmodo just did a story today about these ISPs and their BS charts trying to sell non-techie people on the higher bandwidth packages that don't need it.. thought I'd share: gizmodo.com/5432332/basically-every-isp-is-trying-to-scare-you-into-paying-for-internet-you-dont-need
