I just called that number and got Roy's voice mail. I left a polite inquiry regarding the status of the CCI flag being changed. If we can get everyone with a TiVo S3 or HD to call, they would see how many people are requesting this change. I think I posted Roy's # (at least what showed up on my cell), but I didn't get an extension. Roy's name is Roy Greenquist (not sure how it's spelled). The only # I have is what showed up on the caller ID, so it may be a trunk line: 242-8929

I just spoke to Roy and he said that the directive came down from their corporate headquarters to leave the CCI settings as is.

I figured after seeing the email from the Corporate office on the Tivo website. Well, just one more reason to leave TW when/if FIOS ever comes or DTV has an MRV/TTG Tivo. Of course, that's going to be at LEAST another year or two.

I would be interested to know how satisfied people are with FiOS TV. The only issue that I have had with FiOS Internet is that I have a PPoE connection. It doesn't really affect anything, but it bugs me for some irrational reason. I have had zero service interruptions, but their customer support pales to TWC Albany. Just calling them in a futile attempt to get PPoE switched over to DHP was an exercise in futility and I got passed to a few people. On the other hand, FiOS TV will have the following advantages. - No SDV, which means no tuning adapters
- CCI Byte set to copy freely
- FiOS All in one package (tv/phone/internet) is cheaper than TWC's package
To be fair, FiOS has the following disadvantages - Not available in the TWC Albany area.
- When it does come to town, the people with FiOS available will get it first.
- It's digital only. Every set will need a STB or CableCard-equipped device. With TWC, you still have the analog channels available.
- Verizon tech support is, at best, awful

I would agree that Verizon's tech support (even customer service) is terrible compared to TW. But IMO, it'd be worth it to not have to put up with the constant TA reboots, the pixelation/audio problems on the SDV channels and the CCI byte nazi-ism that TW is doing.

Sssssshhhhhhh! Don't tell TWC...
Channel 1733 Nick HD has it's CCI byte set at 0x00. I know because I am able to transfer programs from this channel off my TiVo to my PC.
Let's see how long it takes TWC to figure it out.
