It seems as if TWC has gotten away from grouping the channel numbers by format. For example, the sports, kids, news channels were all grouped together before these latest additions.
I imagine Albany TWC will reorganize the channels soon.

I would love for tivo to implement an option for virtual channels, or channel remapping, however you want to look at it. You order the channels the way you want, and tivo does the work in the background making it happen.
If this were available I'd just replace all the SD equivalents in the 1-100ish range with their HD counterparts so I don't need to go back in forth between SD and HD channels.. seems like such a dumb setup to me.

Got an email from Time Warner today about the new channels: Time Warner Cable is excited to announce that we've added 12 new high-definition channels to your lineup, and we have even more planned for October. Wonder what we can expect in October? I really want Viacom channels in HD, but I realize that Time Warner doesn't have any carriage deals for them yet.

Wonder what we can expect in October? I really want Viacom channels in HD, but I realize that Time Warner doesn't have any carriage deals for them yet. Ken Schott from the Schenectady Gazette printed that TWC will add MSG Plus HD (channel 1848) and CBS College Sports HD (channel 1878) on Tuesday 10/6/09. These are the remaining channels they said they would add in their programming notice: CBS College Sports HD CNBC HD IFC HD MSG+ HD MSNBC HD NBA TV HD Oxygen HD Style HD TruTv HD WE HD HBO2 E HD SHO Showcase E HD Encore E HD

Tivo has added the HD channels to their lineup now.
I think my only other ones on my wish list would be DIYHD (if it exists) and possibly LifeTime (yeah, I know, a chick channel, but I'm hooked on Project Runway).
I could definitely do without Fuse (shopping?).
I don't sub to the HBO/SHO (cheaper to rent the DVD when they come out)

Fuse is a music video station. They actually play music videos like MTV did many years ago. And, it's in HD now. www.fuse.tv/

That's weird. Today (must've been the timeslot) was a shopping show (although I suppose it's the same like on the early hours of the weekend, Fox has "paid programming" on).

I'm sure they are all SDV which means the bandwidth is only used if someone is watching the channel so it doesn't really matter.
It is strange that TW utilizes a technology that has its basis on a few customers at a time watching the channel, in effect giving them a reason to add channels that don't have a wide appeal.

Thanks for posting. While you were correct with the 6 channels you posted about previously, there were actually 12 channels added and they were added a month later than you originally stated. Regardless, we appreciate the info. You have proven that you have somewhat accurate info.

It is strange that TW utilizes a technology that has its basis on a few customers at a time watching the channel, in effect giving them a reason to add channels that don't have a wide appeal. The technology actually allows anyone to access the channel once its being streamed. So, if a network has only random users during the day and then carries a program which is very popular in primetime then it efficiently uses the bandwidth. I imagine this works great for a channel like TLC. They carry just the average stuff all day, but their 'mary kate + 8' show likely attracts a large audience.
