So I got an offer from TW to switch back to RR standard for $29.95/month (for 12 months)
I called Verizon since I have their 10/2 FIOS and am paying $39.99/month
They won't price match.
Further, the NORMAL rate for NEW customers is now $49.99/month
Looks like Verizon doesn't care if they lose customers. Makes me wonder if they'll really be price competitive when and if they ever offer FIOS TV here.

It always amazed me that people thought dealing with Verizon would ever be better than TW.

Well at the time, TW was charging me $45/month for RR and that was at 4mb/1mb (down/up)
So I got FIOS at 10/2 for $34.95/month for my 2 years.

I got $19.99 for 3mb/768k DSL. Then they wanted $39.99 for the same service at the end of the contract. Wait til you see what they want for FIOS after the 2 years are up. So either way you're screwed, you're just screwed "differently" with Verizon.

I'll just treat it like car insurance. You find some good rate and a year or two later they jack up the rates for no reason, so you find another place that's cheaper and keep switching.
Only sucky thing is that email addresses keep changing.

Only sucky thing is that email addresses keep changing. Thats why I made my gmail account my main account. This way I can change internet providers without caring.

I have FiOS at the 20/5 plan for $39.95 a month and I can't see going back to TW anytime soon. Other than a few calls when it was first installed a couple of years ago, I haven't had to call Verizon FiOS support. If you need to have a service all, you'll get better service from TW than from Verizon, but I just haven't needed any service calls.

I have FiOS at the 20/5 plan for $39.95 a month and I can't see going back to TW anytime soon. Is that price part of a package deal or stand alone? Is it a promotional deal only good for a certain length of time?

Must be a promo. Mine is 10/2 at $39.95 and it shows up on my billing as pre something or other. Currently it should be $45.95 or something, but I guess I won't complain. It WAS $34.99/month for the first 12 months and then it went up.

I had the 10/2 plan that everyone else has and right after I got FiOS (about 2 years ag), a Verizon salesman was walking through my neighborhood trying to get people to sign up. He didn't make much traction because most people around me have the TW package with phone/cable/internert. People seem to like having one bill, no matter how inflated it actually is. WHen I told him I already had FiOS, he said that he could raise the speed to 20/5 if I bundled it with my home Verizon phone service. That got me the 20/5 at 39.95 and was not a promotional rate.
