Saw a crawl at the bottom of the screen every time they came back from commercial during American Idol on Wednesday night. The crawl announced they would be turning off their analog transmitter on Feb 17th. During this crawl, the video was SD and there was only 2 channel sound.
They also had a commercial where they showed the announcement on the entire screen and a voice-over announcer read the text.

Got this e-mail the other day:
Most of the Albany stations appear to be continuing on until June 12th with the exception of WXXA which will cease analog transmission after the 17th of Feb. I am anticipating switching our channel 38 transmitter on Mt Greylock to digital operation as soon as it is practical to get to the site and make the changes. I'll try to give you a heads up when that occurs, but in case I am not able, if you notice that 38 analog has disappeared, look for it on digital. It will also ID as 13, so you'll end up with two each of 13-1, -2, & -3.

Here's a link to a PDF file that lists all the full power television stations by DMA, indicating those that are terminating analog service before or on February 17, 2009.

From WXXA web site. Contrary to what we have previously announced, WXXA-DT, Albany, NY, no longer plans to complete its transition to digital television and discontinue analog broadcasts on February 17, 2009 - the station now plans to honor the national transition date, which has been moved to June 12, 2009.
on and on it goes...

The Chief Engineer from WXXA (Fox23) sent me an email indicating he was told on Friday 2/13/09 that WXXA will no longer pull the plug on analog today and will continue at full power until June 12th. From the station's website:

I e-mailed Fred at WRGB asking when they were going to switch their digital transmission back to ch 6. I was wondering if it was going to be June 12'th Am or PM. His reply:
"June 12 at 11:59 PM, in the middle of Letterman."
Does anyone know if the Now Network is going to be on channel 13 on June 13'th?
Thanks
