I have a Denon surround receiver model AVR 1602, i'm trying to hook up a Pioneer DVD player model # 48AV. I either get NO sound or sound from only 4 speakers. I have connected the time warner box to the receiver and get great sound from all speakers. Is there someone out there than can come and make the adjustments to the DVD player and the Receiver? I have both of the owners manuals and i'm located downtown alb, parking not a problem.

There might be a setting in the DVD setup menu that turns on 5.1 sound.

I'll have to check my Denon at home. It was fairly easy if I recall. It may take a day or two for me to post back though.

What connection are you using, optical or coax digital? With Denon's you usually have to manually map an optical/coax input to an existing source.
If you are trying to connect just stereo cables (Red/White only) then you need to find a "Dolby" setting before it will use all 5.1 channels.
Finally, if you are hooking up all 6 as analog connections to the "EXT.IN" if it has it, then you definitely need to dig into some menus to figure out how to associate that with your DVD player.
