So now that TivoHD (and I think Series 3) can get Netflix streaming videos, I figured I'd try it.
First, tried Ratatouille. It downloaded with all bars for quality and it looked very good (I'd say DVD quality) on my 42" Toshiba Plasma TV.
I then tried Hellboy: Sword of Storms (animated). That didn't pan out so well. The quality was one bar below "full", but the audio was about 10 seconds behind (out of sync) with the video. Every time I tried to watch it. Unfortunately there's no way to report a problem with Watch Instantly with NetFlix and I didn't feel like calling and being on hold for 10 minutes. I'm not sure if anyone else can duplicate this.
Then tried: Appleseed: Ex Machina. While the video quality was also DVD, there's no option to control the picture size or language, so I was forced to listen to Japanese with English Subtitles (I have no idea if the actual DVD is this way or if there's a menu item to specify English dialogue and no subtitles). When I say picture size, I mean that the TivoHD doesn't see this as HD, so it reverts to my "zoom" setting, so the bottom and top parts of the movie are cut off. Not usually an issue with watching regular SD TV, but with subtitles, you couldn't read them fully.
National Treasure: Book of Secrets also looked DVD quality and is just fine.
Note, I don't have all my 5.1 speakers setup at this point, even though the TivoHD is capable of DD. I have to run some more speaker wire to get the rear/side surrounds setup, so I cannot comment on audio quality.
