"All the best" & HD tier customer with an 8300HD in the living room, standard cable in the bedroom, but going to get an HDTV for the bedroom...Need some input. If I buy a TV that can support a cablecard I assume I can get one from TWC for a few bucks? Can I pick it up, or do they have to come install it? I will get all the channels available to me on the 8300HD minus the channels that are SDV? If/when the the Tuning adapter becomes available, I will then be able to see the SDV channels? Does TWC plan to support True2way or Opencable 2 way cablecards? any ETA? I'm not sure what the availability of TV's that are capable are at this point either (haven't started shopping yet) Thanks for any advise and comments.. trying to avoid the cablebox in the bedroom, but maybe it would be easier

I don't have a CableCARD myself but I'll try to answer some of the questions based on what I've read on here in the past and let some of the more experienced users answer the rest.
As far as I know, TWC is going to have to come install the card, and you need to ask for a specific card and there is a specific person you should call to make sure that happens (check the forums).
You should get all of the channels except SDV. The problem is, most of the new HD channels, other than the locals and a few such as TBS, are all SDV so your HD programming will be very limited.
If/when the tuning adapter becomes available from Albany, you should be able to get all of the SDV channels.

They will not allow you to pick one up yourself. I will get all the channels available to me on the 8300HD minus the channels that are SDV? Mostly true. You will also not be able to use the ON DEMAND features that are available on your 8300HD. If/when the the Tuning adapter becomes available, I will then be able to see the SDV channels? The Tuning Adapter is ONLY for use with TiVo HD or TiVo Series3 models. The Tuning Adapter is roughly the size of a cable box. Does TWC plan to support True2way or Opencable 2 way cablecards? any ETA? I'm not sure what the availability of TV's that are capable are at this point either (haven't started shopping yet) I believe Panasonic has a HDTV available now in Chicago and Denver that has Tru2Way technology. You'll have to ask TWC if it can be used on their system.

Thanks for all the feedback, just one point of clarity...
From what I understand I will not get the SDV channels with a cablecard installed in the TV? And a tuning adapter won't help? Is the only answer a cablebox?
thanks

In order to get all the SDV channels from TWC, currently your only options are: 1. Get a TWC issued HD cable box 2. Get a TiVo HD or TiVo Series 3 and then get a Tuning Adapter from TWC when they become available.

One point of clarification. The SDV adapter are not specifically for Tivo's. Tivo is just the only company to announce and implement support. Theoretically, any device with a USB port could be updated to support the adapter. While I don't expect any current devices to be updated, it wouldn't shock me if next year models of TVs support the tuning adapters.

Yes, it is possible other companies can possibly use the Tuning Adapter in the future, but I mentioned the only "current options" for watching SDV channels... The paperwork handed out with the Tuning Adapters in Rochester, NY states:
