Looks like the Albany division has finally joined other TW sites that post scheduled channel changes ahead of time. They have posted a notice with changes for next month on their site. Of note, the following: Golf HD will be added to channel 1865 on December 8, 2008 (I assume the current split Golf/Vs. HD on 1873 will become Vs. full-time) Crime/Investigation HD to be added to channel 1828 on December 30, 2008 Big Ten Network HD to be added to channel 878 [SD on 678] on December 30, 2008 (I assume this will be part of the sports tier and that 878 is a typo and it should be 1878) That's all that's listed for HD.

Yet another group of who cares/those channels exist? HD channels coming to a Time Warner subscriber near you.

No mention of SDV, but I bet all the new additions are.
No mention of the SDV tuning adapter, either.
Where on the Albany TWC site did you find this announcement posted?

My mother in law lives on a fixed income and subscribes to TW only in basic annalog. Will she have to pay more when everything will be broadcast in digital? She has a digital tv we bought for her at Christmas two years and the annalog comes in lousy, ie. snow, lines etc. TW sent out two contract tecs who said the problem was the TV. Some stations come in relativlely clear. Your thoughts? Thanks.

If her digital TV includes a QAM tuner (for the type of modulation used for digital cable) she can get the local stations in digital even with Basic cable, plus one that isn't even broadcast yet (WNYA). Read the manual to see how to scan for digital cable channels. She will not get digital versions of all of the analog channels included with a Basic subscription, just the broadcast channels.
Or find out if she can get good enough reception with an antenna; she might not need cable at all.
If she's getting some channels snowy and some well over cable it's most likely the cable at fault, not the TV. To find out, try another TV. Most people have a portable or can borrow one. A non-digital one is fine for this test. Make sure it's set for cable, not OTA channels.
As for the analog shutdown in February, that applies only to broadcast, not cable. Cable can do what it wants, within limits, but it will go digital eventually to pack in more channels. Most digital channels on cable are encrypted and most TVs can't show them even if they can show the unencrypted ones. Locally, TWC has said it does not plan to shut off its analog service immediately.

Haha, typical. The notice says those two channels will be one today and then they tell the media no later than February.
It's amazing the amount of incompetence at that company.

TV One-HD has been added to 1845. And as noted in the link in the previous post, MLB Net-SD is showing up on the guide on 621. It's just a blank screen now, but it's not scheduled to launch until tomorrow night.

Gotta love Time Warner blowing it at the end of 2008. Not putting up the channels they stated were going live and then the whole Viacom fiasco. Ugh.
