I don't have the details in front of me, and I would never switch to Dish Network in Albany because they lack Albany HD locals and the YES network, but it's still of note that Dish lit up 22 more national HD networks today bringing their total close to DirecTV's (when you include RSNs and PPVs, DirecTV still has them by a handful).
But they now are both over 90, doubling Time Warner.

Dish to Launch 22 More HDTV Networks
Additions Pushes HD Roster To 95 Channels
May 12, 2008
By Linda Moss, Multichannel News Magazine
Dish Network will keep its high-definition expansion rolling as it launches an 22 additional national HD networks this week, according to the satellite provider.
This week’s additions, most of which will launch today: ABC Family HD; Biography HD; Bravo HD; Cartoon HD; Cinemax 5 Star HD; Cinemax HD West; Comcast Sports Network Bay Area HD; Comcast Sports Network New England HD; CNBC HD; CNN HD; Disney HD East; ESPNews HD; Hallmark Movie Channel HD; MGM HD; Sci Fi HD; Smithsonian HD; Tennis Channel HD; Toon Disney HD; Travel Channel HD; USA HD; Weather Channel HD and World Fishing Network HD.
Dish Network said it remains on target to reach its goal of offering 100 national HD networks by yea-end.
“We are excited to extend our competitiveness in HD by enhancing our already comprehensive HD lineup with these 22 channels, bringing our total HD lineup to over 95 channels,” Dish Network senior vice president of programming Eric Sahl said in a statement. “These launches, along with other recent additions such as the New England Sports Network HD, reinforce our commitment to offer the best in entertainment.”
Dish Network has told securities officials that problems with the satellite AMC-14, which was declared a total loss last month because it couldn’t be positioned into the correct orbit, would not impact its HDTV rollout this year.
The satellite provider said it would assess other satellite-capacity sources in terms of meeting its long-term HDTV needs.

NOT SO FAST I guess...
They dropped 7 of their "Voom" channels to make room. Looks like they were up there with DirecTV for a whole day.
The ones that "made the cut" are reportedly Monsters, Rush, Equator, Kung Fu, and Rave... whatever the hell those are. That brings them well below 90 again by my count.
Either way, I'd have traded these 22 channels for ALL the Voom channels based on what people say about them.

To make room? Wow. Dish Network must really suck if they have to make room for more HD channels as a SATELLITE COMPANY.

I think "to make room" is just an excuse they're using to drop the VOOM channels now, considering VOOM and Dish have been involved in a lawsuit over carriage for the past few months. Dish dropping the channels has been expected This probably spells the end for VOOM because without Dish, Cablevision is their only carrier. And that agreement ends next month.

Defintiely wasn't to make room because they had most of the 22 new channels, and the Voom up for almost 24 hours before they started dropping them.

The Albany HD locals have apparently been uplinked by DISH, but are not yet available. Shouldn't be long then.
