I just swapped my 4250HDC for an 8300HDC at Time Warner in Saratoga Springs. I was having some issues and figured I'd like to have the DVR anyway. I just got back and hooked it up. The box went through it's initial sequence (dnld card, then booting) and now I can't tune most SDV channels. The box tells me "Channel Not Available" for all the HD SDV channels (National Geographic, Starz West, HBO West, etc.)
Is this common? My 8300HD (no cable card) downstairs can tune everything fine hooked up both in my living room and my office, so I'm guessing it has to be an issue with the box.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The 8300HDC should be able to tune SDV channels. Call TWC. Let us know what they tell you.

They have no idea why it's not working. The 4250HDC I had earlier did the same thing. I took that back for that reason (and I wanted a DVR).
I get Channel Not Available for the following HD Channels:
1823, 1825, 1835, 1836, 1838, 1841, 1843, 1844, 1851, 1860, 1864, 1876, 1882, 1884, 1891, 1892, 1893, 1894
However, the following SDV channels DO work:
1805, 1839, 1842, 1846, 1872, 1873, 1883, 1890
I didn't count the following channels because I'm not subscribed to the Sports Tier:
1874, 1875
The woman at Time Warner I spoke with literally told me she has no idea why it's not working for these channels. She sent a new signal out to the box, but that didn't affect anything. She told me to let it go overnight and see if it fixes itself and to call tomorrow if it doesn't.
I took my 8300HD DVR (no cable card) and put it in my office and all channels come in with no problem. No idea what the deal is.
Very very frustrated...

As an addition. I have the signals pulled up on the box. For the non-SDV HD channels, I'm showing -7 dBmV on Tuner 1 and -7 dBmV on FDC. For the SDV HD channels I CAN get, I'm showing roughly -16 dBmV on Tuner 1. For the SDV HD channels I CANNOT get, I'm showing -20 dBmV on Tuner 1. FDC remains at -7 dBmV for everything.
I'm guessing there's a signal issue, but how are the non SDV channels getting good signal while the others are getting horrible signal?

So I just hooked up this new box in my bedroom to my older than imaginable 19" CRT and everything works. I'm showing -1 dBmV on Tuner 1 and -3 dBmV on FDC on HBO HD (1880). I guess I have bad signal in my office. Disturbing because that's where my modem is as well.
The installer was here literally 5 days ago and installed all this stuff. I told him that line was going to have a HDTV. He apparently didn't check the signals very well and now I have to schedule another appointment. Good times.

Time Warner is sending someone out on Wednesday afternoon to take a look. I'm pretty pissed that there's a signal issue. I just moved in 2 weeks ago and it's been a week since the installer was here. He knew this line would have the modem and an HDTV and apparently he didn't test it properly to see there's weak signal.

Time Warner came out and ran a new line from the pole to my house today and my signals are great across the board. The tech that came out told me he was surprised I wasn't getting major packet loss on the internet and a lot of phone drop outs because the signal coming to the house was very low.
I'm going to be calling Time Warner in a bit and telling them I'm not paying for this install because the tech did not do his job properly.
