Gefen Shows HDTV Switchers with Full Audio Support to Home Cinema and HD Integration Lines January 30, 2006 Gefen Press Release Gefen brings a full selection of high definition audio/video switchers for linking two or more HDMI sources to a display equipped with just one input. The plug and play units act as the interface between two, three, four or six sources, such as satellite set top boxes, DVD players, HD-DVD players and digital video recorders, to one HD display. Built to accommodate an HD display equipped with just one or two HDMI inputs, Gefen’s HDMI Switchers are easily controlled by the IR remote included with each unit. RS-232 control is also provided. Available in several models, including 2x1, 3x1, 4x1, 4x4 Matrix and 6x2 versions, these new Gefen switchers come equipped with HDMI inputs and outputs. The 6x2 model provides a second output for driving two displays or a display and projector at the same time; the 4x4 HDMI Matrix supplies four inputs and four outputs for matrix switching. When combined with an optional DVI/HDMI adapter, HD video rom DVI sources can be easily integrated into the system, as well as DVI displays. Gefen is also providing two color options on some of its switchers: traditional blue and silver and an all-black version to better blend with room aesthetics. For more info visit www.gefen.com

Gefen automated remote switches can be expensive but comparing the price to what we paid for our HDTV gear may put some perspective on the purchase. However, if you are still able to get off the couch, you may want to consider a mechanical switch. These are inexpensive and have been reliable for me, although, I paid $24.95 when they first came out, the price is starting to creep up...here's the link: www.markertek.com/SearchProduct.asp?item=DVIAB%2D1&off=8&sort=prod
