The new SkipJam iMedia All-Digital Home Entertainment System is an all-encompassing media networking system that aims to give users total access to any audio/visual files from any connected hardware in the house. Connect PCs, TVs, digital cameras, stereos, and networked hard drives over any standard wired or wireless home network, and SkipJam iMedia lets them all share and play nice.
The whole-house solution doesn't require a PC, and is based around a central iMedia Cen-ter that can support four analog video (s-video or composite) devices, 6 analog audio de-vices, and four PCM audio devices. Other digital or analog A/V hardware is added to the network via satellite iMedia Player, iMedia Audio Player, or iMedia Audio Player Pro hardware.
The system integrates high-fidelity streaming from any connected source to any other, PVR and DVR functions that can record TV to any networked hard drive, and a universal whole-house remote control (don't lose it!). iMedia is powered by a 32/64 bit superscalar MIPS architecture CPU with separate DSP processors for audio and video, dual PCI buses and dual Ethernet ports.
The hardware integration allows for some cool features, like being able to view your PC desktop screen from any connected TV or PC display in the house, whether to check your e-mail or keep track of your child's computer activity. TVs and stereos can serve double duty as home intercoms, and you can hook up a camera in the yard to monitor your child's playtime from any enabled display
Price: SkipJam iMedia Center: $799 (direct); iMedia Player: $499; iMedia Audio Player: $299; iMedia Audio Player Pro: $499.
