Here's the current status of the 4 local TV stations that produce local news programs going HD:
WRGB (CBS): Started local news in HD on January 14, 2008
WTEN (ABC): Corporate has delayed conversion to HD news until later in 2008
WNYT (NBC): Actively planning for the plant changes that are necessary to produce the local news in HD. It will be a while...don't have a specific time frame
WXXA (FOX): At this moment there are no plans in place to produce local news in HD. The TV station is in the process of being sold. This may, or may not, happen. It is very difficult to plan for something that a new owner may not want, and that the present owner will not spend money on.
