ESPN HD, ESPN2 HD Ramp Up Production
Full Seasons of Seven Sports to Be Presented in HD
February 21, 2007
Multichannel News Release
ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD will produce the networks’ full schedules of several sports in HD.
All National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing events, National Basketball Association games, Major League Soccer contests, Major League Baseball games, college-football telecasts, National Hot Rod Association races and National Football League Monday Night Football matches will be produced in HD.
Since ESPN HD launched in March 2003, many sports received partial-season or event-based HD coverage due to limited remote-telecast facilities.
But the sports programmer said that with an increasing number of available remote-production trucks to handle the more than 700 telecasts appearing this year on the two HD services, the schedule was repositioned to offer complete coverage of these seven sports.
