I was really disappointed with ABC today. I started watching the British Open in HD on TNT and the day was good. At 9AM coverage switch over to WTEN/ABC and no HD for the rest of the golf day. Anybody know why?

The short answer is no, but keep reading. TNT-HD tells us they are using the widescreen standard definition feed that is provided by the BBC. This widescreen feed will then be upconverted to 1080i and sent to TNT-HD viewers. The quality should be similar to what Fox Sports does for its Saturday baseball games, better than analog television but not true high definition.
