The magical fairytale is the story of Aladdin and his rags-to-riches adventures in the mythical Arabian kingdom, Agrabah. Along the way Aladdin has encounters involving a "wish-full" Genie, and a scheming power-hungry vizier, Jafar. Posing as a rich and handsome prince, Aladdin fails to impress Princess Jasmine and discovers that it is his true self that she was interested in all along. With the assistance of his Genie pal, his pet monkey Abu and a magic carpet Aladdin sets out to win the heart of the beautiful Princess Jasmine. Aladdin strives to prove himself worthy by saving the kingdom from Jafar's evil plot and becoming the "master" of his own fate. Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken, Oscar-winning Howard Ashman, and Tony Award-winner Tim Rice collaborated to create five spectacular songs; "Arabian Nights," One Jump Ahead," "Friend Like Me," "Prince Ali," and "A Whole New World." Aladdin was written, produced and directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. The screenplay was co-written by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio. The film's co-producers were Amy Pell and Don Ernst.
