Hi All!!! It's been a while...busy time for me professionally...Hankster: I came to the board to see if anyone else was noticing this...I have a TWC HD 8000 hooked to my home theater receiver and I thought that something was wrong with my reciever...when the receiver is set to"digital" mode (eg you must also be watching one of TWC's digital channels...) the sound fades in and out and the "dolby digital" indicator blinks on and off...this does not occur in the other reception modalities...do you have TWC also?
Is anyone else experiencing a like problem??? I almost started shopping for a new home theatre receiver...don't think I'll do that quite yet!
Thanks!

Hey Hank I have these problems all the time on abc shows . The Kingdom would hardly ever be on in hdtv they always forgot to flip whatever switch they flip . And I had alot of audio dropouts during the lost last night also . I haven't experienced anything like budget guy is experiencing with the 8300. even when I had the 8000 the sound would drop out only when there was credits rolling or dark scenes , the update that my box received fixed that a few months ago . How's that mits holding up? Eliab was going to touch up my calibration, he is doing a tour around here like this week but unfortunately I don't have the funds and the original calibration is still holding fine . Anyway I am rambling .....

UPDATE: MY PROBLEM IS SOLVED!!! I called TWC to ask if they were aware of any issues..the rep said no but suggested I unplug the 8000 and "reboot"...I did and the digital sound was fully restored...hope this helps anyone else out there with a sound issue on digital and HD channels!!!

Hey guys, I don't think your problem is with TWC. I get WTEN OTA and I had to switch back to my analog cable to watch LOST on 11/3. I got the same indication, the Dolby Digital indicator would flash and I would get a very annoying clicking sound. I tried both 10-1 and 19-1 with the same results.

FYI, I get "pops and clicks" during Lost (and other HD WTEN content) *if* I'm recording something else at the same time. I figured out this was causing the problem when I recorded Lost and That 70s Show, both at 8 PM on Wednesday. While watching Lost the pops/clicks lasted until 8:32ish, which is when That 70s Show stopped recording.
My guess is that it can't save/read to the hard drive fast enough when recording two things at once (?) Just a guess, but perhaps it happens because Lost has a true DD 5.1 soundtrack that's larger in physical size. In any event, I've learned not to record two things at once (or watch two things even) when recording WTEN programming such as Lost.
If anyone else knows of a workaround for this, feel free to let me know.

Hootster413 Have to agree with Hootster413. For several weeks in a row, the audio during some of the Tuesday comedies (My Wife & Kids, George Lopez, According to Jim, etc.) had the same problem OTA as well as on cable. Also ended up switching to analog to watch.
