As I flip around the channels this afternoon, I find the channels filled with big time sporting events.
Yankees vs. Red Sox on FOX
Ryder Cup Golf on NBC
Nebraska vs. Pittsburgh in college football on ABC
San Diego St. vs. Michigan in college football on ESPN
Every one of these networks has the ability to show sporting events in HD. Not one is doing so this afternoon.
Shame on NBC for not producing the Ryder Cup in HD.

It does seem like Hi def programming is still an afterthought with the networks and TV stations. We who have Hi def TVs and crave hi def programming have to put up with stupid stuff like WTEN switching to SD to show their station ID and forgetting to hit a switch to go back to Hi def or WNYT not showing any of their Hi def offerings last night in Hi def etc. I guess we have to realize that we're at the beginning of the Hi def revolution and until owners of Hi def TVs become a majority, that the service we get will be overly expensive and second class.

To be fair, HDTV is still a new technology, and I'm sure converting control rooms and having numerous control rooms HDTV compatible is rather expensive. To have a ton of HDTV compatible outlets that only a fraction of the populous can even view it rather costly.
That said, The Ryder Cup SHOULD HAVE been in HDTV. Same with The Yaqks/Red Sox, but the excuse might have been their HDTV crews were at all the football games (Good job out of FOX making all of their games HDTV).
ESPN and ABC only had 2 games in HD this weekend (Michigan State/Notre Dame and the Dolphins/Bengals last night). You'd think they'd have the control room capability that FOX seems to have.
Wasn't CBS the first network to broadcast in HD? Why only a select few games in HD?
