I watched the Giants vs. Browns game in HD on CBS (WRGB) via my OTA STB.
There were very noticeable audio dropouts everytime the picture went from HD to SD. This would happen going in to and out of commercials. I think it also happened when they went to SD highlights from other games.
Also, every time they went to show a replay, that huge CBS logo danced across the screen. As it moved across the screen, there was pixilation (sp?).

This was a CBS Network problem in going from the game (HD-DD5.1) to the Studio (SDupconvert-DD2.0), this was NOT a WRGB problem.

According to my TWC pass-through option, it appears that football on ABC-10 is 720p. The PQ is quite bad, but looks much, much better on 1020i. Anybody else experience this or have other comments?

I thought MNF looked a little "soft" last night, as well. My 8300HD is set to "pass-through" and registers 720p for ABC. It was so soft, in fact, that I kept switching back & forth betweeen TWC 1810 and OTA 10-1 to see if there was a difference in picture quality. I didn't see any difference in PQ between OTA and TWC. I'll have to try TWC 1810 set to 1080i tonight for NYPD Blue to see if there is any difference in PQ between the 720p setting.

That's a bad comparison... 24p source material requires less bandwidth than 720p source material. Sports and SportsCenter (Studio) are generally the only things that are 720p from source to your STB.

Program Note: CBS has informed WRGB that it will not be providing Dolby Digital 5.1 for NFL games this Sunday. Best guess is that it's related to last Sunday's audio difficulties.

Regarding the DD5.1 issue on CBS NFL:
According to the AVS Moderator in the HDTV Programming thread, he said that the truck used for the Dolphins game is experiencing a hardware issue.
Here is exact quote from the moderator: "There is no DD 5.1 for the N.Y. Jets @ Miami game today, due to a hardware issue with the truck doing that game. It will also affect 2 more CBS games, one next week and one the week after. From that point forward the issue should be resolved."

In the 2nd quarter of Monday Night's Chiefs vs. Ravens game on ABC, the HD picture on both TWC and OTA went to SD.
I went to bed before it went back to HD, if it did at all.

It was acting funky during that quarter, but it was back to normal after a while. What it does demonstrate is how much different 480i upconverted looks over 720p. Stark contrast.

Note: NFL.com does not have a Sunday Night game listed for week 7, ESPN’s website has nothing scheduled for the timeslot. According to Joe Theismann, they are taking the week off to make way for the World Series and not compete with them. If the series goes to Game 7, there will be a Sunday Night Football game. Expect a Thursday night game to make up for this omission soon.
