Over at the AVS Forum someone posted that on INHD's website is says local teams in your areas will be subject to blackout. I hope YES is going' to HD soon and that TWC will carry it.

I called TWC to try and get an answer if the games would be blacked out or not. No luck.
The CSR said they couldn't look that that far into the future because the guide data is not available to them.
I got the feeling he was trying to use the guide from the cable box, which is only available 7 days into the future. His "suggestion" was to call back on April 14th and they would be able to give me an answer.
I sent an email to Mr. Taubkin over the weekend asking the same question. I got an automatic reply that said he was out of the office until April 5th.
I'll try sending an email to TWC support.

I have confirmed with Time Warner Cable that all Yankees and/or Mets games that will be shown in HD on INHD will be blacked out in the Albany TWC service area.

Re: Yankees on INHD... The YES network has market exclusivity, so they get to air the game in this market, not INHD. YES will be providing the coverage in HD, but since TWC's policy is to not pay for HD content they already receive in SD, they will not negotiate with YES for the HD feed.
Re: Mets on INHD... WEWB has the market exclusivity on this. WEWB is actually run out of Boston. Technically they can get an HD signal from Boston to Albany... what's uncertain is if they can get the HD from NYC to Boston. WEWB should be HD-OTA in a few weeks. They will likely not be HD on TWC.
Re: Yankees on WXXA. There is a local (not FOX network coverage) Yankee baseball package that WXXA purchased... The games will likely be produced in HD (at 1080i)... I doubt WXXA will effort to provide these games in HD (converted to 720p) either OTA or on TWC because they would need to do a lot of R & D to figure a good way to do this.

I didn't think YES went HD yet. I have heard no mention of this anywhere. Us Yankee fans need them in HD! ;D P.S. Don't even try to tell me if I had an antenna I could get YES HD OTA.

Mr. Taubkin from TWC responded to my email inquiry:
-----Original Message----- From: Taubkin, Pete [mailto:peter.taubkin@twcable.com] Sent: Wednesday, April 07, 2004 11:21 PM Subject: RE: Yankees on INHD
Mark: Sorry for the delay in rsponding. I've been away. These games will be blacked out on IN HD. The game on the 17th is scheduled to be on WXXA. The game on the 18th is scheduled to be on YES. The rules are somewhat complicated, but I think the easiest way to explain it as it relates to this scenario is that since the games are being carried on a network or regional basis (ie: on a network (WXXA) or regional cable channel (YES)) which they are, they are being blacked out on the baseball package. The blackout would apply to all forms of carriage including HD. I understand it's probably not the desired answer, but I hope it's helpful in answering the question. We're bound by these rules. Thanks for taking the time to contact me. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Peter.

Wonder if the Toronto/Red Sox series scheduled for the 10th and 11th will be blacked out. I have the HDDVR set up to record the games, as not all of us New Yorkers are Yankees fans.

I believe the Sox will not be blacked out. Only Yankee/Mets games as Skaggs posted. I'm not a Red Sox but I can't resist watching them in the glory of 1080i HD!

I have been notified that TWC will not black out the Red Sox games on INHD in the Albany area, except the games where they play the Yankees.
However, the the Red Sox games on INHD will be blacked out on the Pittsfield, Mass. TWC system.

Will TWC blackout Yankees & Mets games in the Pittfield, MA cable system too? I wonder how they define that. It would seem unreasonable to me if Pittsfield was being blacked out of both the New York & Boston teams.
