DIRECTV has added local High-Definition channels in two more markets.
The new markets are: Albany/Schenectady/Troy, New York and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania.
With the new markets, DIRECTV says it now offers local high-def channels in 70 cities, representing 73.6 percent of U.S. TV households.
The satcaster is expected to rollout more local HD markets this year, particularly after it launches a new satellite that will expand its capacity for local high-def.
In the Albany area, the following broadcast networks are now available in high-def: WRGB/CBS, WTEN/ABC, WNYT/NBC and WXXA/Fox.
In the Wilkes-Barre area, the following broadcast networks are now available in HD: WNEP/ABC and WOLF/Fox.
